## Description

The development of this lens was based on the smc PENTAX-FA35 mmF2AL — multi-purpose, wide-angle lens used on film-format SLR cameras — while conducting a thorough review of the lens coatings. The high-grade, multi-layer HD Coating has been applied to the optical elements to produce high-contrast images with edge-to-edge sharpness and free of flare and ghost images; the highly stain-repellent SP coating has been applied to the front surface to improve the lens’s usability in outdoor locations. The exterior has been totally redesigned to match the design of the latest PENTAX K-mount digital SLR models, while its compact, portable body makes it a perfect everyday-use lens. Latest HD coating minimizes flare and ghost SP coating to repel stains.

Review: A must have for the K1 - A nice fast lens for the Pentax K1, not too wide, not too long. A true walkaround lens. Works out about a 52mm lens on APS-C bodies so not as impressive. Image quality is top notch too.
Review: Small, light, good performer. - I used this lens primarily as a standard prime on my K-3 when I wanted a little more speed than the DA 35/2.8 Limited can offer and it works very well. Slightly soft wide open but it sharpens up quickly. Bokeh is not the best but also not bad. AF is quick and manual focus is surprisingly pleasant to use for an AF lens. I have also tried it out on my full frame Lumix S5 (without AF of course) and it works well on FF, probably better than on APS-C due to the 24MP resolution being spread over double the surface area. Build quality seems pretty good.

A nice fast lens for the Pentax K1, not too wide, not too long. A true walkaround lens. Works out about a 52mm lens on APS-C bodies so not as impressive. Image quality is top notch too.

I used this lens primarily as a standard prime on my K-3 when I wanted a little more speed than the DA 35/2.8 Limited can offer and it works very well. Slightly soft wide open but it sharpens up quickly. Bokeh is not the best but also not bad. AF is quick and manual focus is surprisingly pleasant to use for an AF lens. I have also tried it out on my full frame Lumix S5 (without AF of course) and it works well on FF, probably better than on APS-C due to the 24MP resolution being spread over double the surface area. Build quality seems pretty good.
