I bought this on actually because I like the color LOL
I bought this on actually because I like the color LOL! But I got a thumbs up from my mentor who uses a YETI mic. He said the only thing that was wrong was it didn't have some kind of button to turn down the gain I think he called it? But besides that, it's great!

Decent Sub $25 condenser microphone
EDIT: I just purchased a Behringer U-phoria UMC202HD and am now able to power the microphone with phantom power. The Neewer NW-800 Microphone is a budget friendly condenser microphone that /CAN*/ work without phantom power.Note: There is a video review of the NW- 700/800 on YouTube that showcases the audio quality of the microphone. This microphone features a build quality I can only describe as metal. Of course, you definitely shouldn't drop any equipment of any sort at all lest you want some broken equipment, but this mic can probably survive any accidental drops that are less than two feet. The metal feels fantastic to hold, and is reassuring for the most part. The weight is a little bit hefty. The recording aspect of this microphone works better than what I would've expect it to. Without phantom power, AND a sound card that is able to provide the power the microphone needed, the microphone requires a lot of boost. despite this, there isn't a lot of static or any noticeable distortion. Because I don't currently own an audio interface or a 48v phantom power supply, I am unable to review the audio quality when the microphone is fully powered.Providing the mic with phantom power greatly increases the audio quality of the mic compared to just powering it off of the mic jack of a computer. The audio is pretty clear even with the Midas preamps set to 50% or even 25%. With just the included foam ball cap, plosives aren’t too noticeable.TL;DR. Sub $25 dollar condenser microphone that can work without phantom power. As long as your sound card can power it.

It sounds like an MXL 990 for $90 less
I saw the price on this mic for $17 and my curiosity the better of me. It was hard to get a clear picture from the reviews as most reviewers don't seem that familiar with a lot of different studio gear. It arrived today and just ran it through a vocal test. First let me start by saying my expectations were very low for this mic so I ran an A/B test against an MXL 990 as opposed to a higher end mic. I set both mics up side by side, pop filter in the middle and ran them with identical cables into my MOTU 8PRE using reaper as my DAW to do a couple vocal tests. First off, the NW-800 is hot, I mean couldn't hit the pad button fast enough kind of hot. Once I had them dialed in and my input volume was matched I did a vocal take and then did a listen back. Believe it or not they sounded identical, at first I thought I was imagining it, then I automated the 2 tracks so I would hear the 990 in the first half of the verse and the NW-800 in the second half, and I literally couldn't tell them apart. I took it a step further and ran frequency analysis on both tracks and the frequency response was identical. The 990 isn't a mind blowingly great mic, but it's solid and versatile and by sonic comparison this mic has the same properties. As for the NW-800 itself, the construction is clean but it does have a "cheap" feel to it. Not to say that it's junk, but it is lighter than you would expect from a large diaphragm condenser. The grill itself is solid but I don't think it will withstand much abuse and the solid binding pieces of the grill appear to be plastic, I don't believe it could live through a drop or a stick hit without some serious damage. I have only tried it on vocals, I'm curious to see how it responds on drums and an acoustic, I doubt it will replace my pencil condensers but I'm hoping it captures a good room sound or tom mic. All in all for $17 you can't go wrong, it's not going to take the place of higher end mics in the cabinet and I wouldn't track any critical vocals on it, but it is a solid alternative to the MXL 990 and I suspect rivals most mics in the $75-$175 range. Also I'd like to note that I purchased the blue/gold model which was $16.99, there doesn't appear to be any difference between this model and the black/grey model that is $23.99 from the same seller. For a $16.99, this mic is well worth the cost. I gave it 4 stars because it exceeds my expectation for a mic of this price and even a mic in $100-$150 range

Great Job Neewer!
Beginners will be satisfied. You will need an interface with 48volts Phantom Power and perhaps another xlr cable. The one it comes with has an end equivalent to a headphone jack. Plus its a High Grade Professional "Low-Noise" xlr cable. All in all. Good strong mic with the needed basics. Id recommend it to anyone who wants a nice looking mic with typical results. Sounds as good as it looks. I ordered Blue and it came nicely packaged and with a Gold mesh over the magnet.

Best to have the power supply box for this mic to work best for PC/laptop
I had a problem getting this to work with my ibupower gaming PC. After I read the reviews, I saw that the power supply box is needed for this to work with PC/laptop. I was in the process of returning this but my friend came through with an extra power supply box. Now its working great with my gaming PC.#DESCRIPTION SHOULD STATE POWER SUPPLY BOX MAYBE NEEDED FOR CERTAIN TYPES OF EQUIPMENT!Other than that, I would have given 5 stars!
