ChordTime Piano Ragtime & Marches - Level 2B

Always a Hit with Students
These pieces are excellent to use with older students or with students who have already completed some of Nancy and Randall Faber's other supplementary books at this level. The book contains 13 pieces nicely distributed between ragtime and march selections. They are expertly arranged to use the three primary chords in the keys of C, G, and F in their most common positions. I especially enjoy linking the music with the history of the times that produced it. However these great pieces are quite compelling on their own. Here are some of my favorites: The Thunderer, The Entertainer, Alexander's Ragtime Band, The Stars and Stripes Forever, and the Alexander March (Beethoven).

Thoughts
My piano teacher got me started on these books. For people who like being self taught, I believe they are excellent. Of course we often need the experience of a wise teacher to catch our faults. There are three to four books in the series and even if you have some experience, start at the beginning because the Faber's will help catch bad habits.

Love hearing my kids play Ragtime.
Nice selection of marches and ragtime. They are rather short and my kids would love to have them be a little longer but really fun set of songs. It would be nice to have a youtube video or something of some of Faber's original rags.
