It has performed wonderfully in both scenarios, it offers a really reasonable picture given the asking price. I am surprised at times by the lighting conditions that I have found this to be at least passable in, which will vary from person to person. My only real complaint is that I wish the speakers were a bit louder at times, given that you might be a bit further back with the picture size. I have found that we were able to get the picture and viewing angle set up really well by setting it on top of our Coleman cooler at the proper distance.
