Badass survivor
Great story of chasing excellence, identity, and approval. Wambach's honesty and resilience are both inspiring and compelling. People of all ages can relate to her story regardless of one's interest in soccer, of which I have zero interest. Her struggle to find her identity outside of the "thing" she excels at and her recognition that self love and hard work are forever goals is a great message and she continues to be a great role model.

Great Memoir
Abby's passion and heart made me a soccer fan during her Olympic Games. I still am. Her book is brutally honest and so well written. This is a courageous woman -she was as a player and is in telling her story- in a way that is relatable. I've felt a lot of what she has - and felt alone because I thought I had to be the only one. Abby is the GOAT as far as I'm concerned. May her retirement bring her peace and love abundantly-so she can spread them both on her way to changing the world.

An Inspiring Life More Than Inspiring Words
There seem to be two types of memoirs: Here is my life and the universal truths I’ve found in it; Here’s my life, maybe you’ll identify with some of it. For some reason, the later ones have a tendency to end in a way that is unsatisfying-as if there was something the author should have said but they did not do the work to figure out what that thing was. This is not always the case with the second type, but unfortunately it was with this book. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed it. I’m here for whatever Abby has to say not just because I want to glean from her wisdom but because I love how she says things and how she sees the world. This book did not disappoint on this in anyway. Whether I identify with her or not, I enjoy her. And while her words are less inspiring this round, her life never could be anything but. So, I still recommend it. I just think it would be more enjoyable if you weren’t waiting for that Abby wisdom she did not offer. There was no great summation. Take out that disappointment, you’ve got a great book.

Introspective memoir from a star athlete
Incredibly revealing and introspective, this memoir gives you a sense of the perfectly imperfect stellar Abby. I read it all in one sitting, and was impressed by what she chose to share. Loved her before, and since reading her story, love her even more.

Brutally honest
This is the first time I've read a memoir from beginning to end without putting it down once. Captivating. It takes a lot of courage to put all these shortcomings out there for the world to read. At the same time this is another good reminder for us fans, that behind the fame these celebrities are real human beings dealing with real issues. Would recommend this book.

Autobiography by a great soccer player (beat Mia Hamm's record)
Autobiography by a great soccer player (beat Mia Hamm's record). Not only a gifted athlete, Abby is a fabuous motivational speaker, inspirational to young girls everywhere. Unfortunately, there is a dark side where she never felt loved enough or good enough to be loved which results in some drug and alcohol issues. This is a very revealing book of highs and lows.

A beautifully raw, humble and enlightening book
I couldn't put this book down. If you think you know Abby Wambach, you should probably think again. The outspoken and tough exterior is only a small facet of her being. She writes this book with incredible honesty and vulnerability, clearly with an intention to inspire others by showing that it's ok to be insecure, imperfect while at the same time being a powerhouse. You're always evolving and its the journey that is the most beautiful part. I highly recommend you read, especially for those that may take their children's sports a bit too seriously (you know who you are)!

Awesome & Amazing
Wowza, from one Gemini to another, your story was so thoroughly honest and upfront. I enjoyed seeing your career unfold in this book and it's inspiring to know, that even with our faults, our flaws and our mistakes, we are all just human. Real. Raw. Natural. Great book and I definitely recommend this story.

Interesting and fairly candid.
Abby Wambach was just a name but interesting as a female footballer. This book, however, is an interesting insight into sporting 'genius', fame and the inequalities women and girls face despite supposedly being 'equal'. It is not a titillating read and does not give away many of soccer's secrets nor those of the individual's that surrounded Abby on her journey of self discovery. You will enjoy this book if you're interested in women's football and the difficulties faced by those who follow that path or find a gifted sportswoman's battles with her demons and journey to becoming an aware and responsible woman interesting. It is not well written and the structure is often confusing but, in this genre, l have read a lot worse.

A truthful and inspiring bio
Really enjoyed reading this book. In fact, I developed a crush on her and I am straight.I read her wives book which I did not enjoy so much, it let me to this book.I felt inspired, sad, devastated and happy for her. It's pretty honest in the way she talks about her shortfalls and her addiction issues.Recommended

A compelling and honest memoir
Abby Wambach is recognised as the greatest of all time (GOAT) female soccer player with team and individual honours stacked up during a glorious career. Behind the un-rivalled success is the story of someone searching for the real meaning in her life, during and after her playing days. This brutally honest account is compelling reading, not another superficial sports story but a revelation about her life, joyous and heartbreaking, disastrous and brave. I was lucky enough to be at Wembley in 2012 to see her win her Olympic gold medal, she did not score but she made things happen for her team, an impressive physical prescence and an outstanding leader. How does she manage to follow that?
