I had said I felt Tomorrowland was Giacchino's best of the year, and Jurassic World my favorite. But, after watching Inside Out and then listening to the score after seeing the film, Inside Out takes both spots.This, in all honesty, isn't really a review, but how I feel about the score. I'm doing this instead because, Inside Out brought up memories of my childhood I thought were long forgotten. I had actually experienced many moments that mirrored Riley's life, the character who's emotions we follow in the film. I, too, was uprooted from my home and moved to a new place. I moved from school to school, watched friends fade from existence, and watched my life change so rapidly. It was just so much to experience, and too much for a kid. If you've seen the film, towards the end, the most emotional moment of the film was something I did, and the moment the film ended, I could barely stand. I was the last one out of the theater, tears still flowing. Like how "Grave of the Fireflies" is considered one of the greatest war films of all time (even if an anime film), Inside Out is simply one of the best movies ever made, and Michael Giacchino's score helped shape the joy, the sadness and everything else that filled this brilliantly original tale. I will say this, though. "Bundle of Joy" is one of the most memorable themes ever, and "Tears of Joy" is the most heart-wrenching track on the soundtrack, the moment when the character of Joy realizes, not everything is happy.Whether you collect soundtracks, listen to them on occasion or have a specific style, this is a must-own on all fronts. A true masterpiece, and a timeless wonder that helps to showcase emotion in its purest form. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is the best movie soundtrack of the year. *by R***A on June 23, 2015* The film delves into the emotions of an eleven year old girl named Riley with this superb music. The score by Michael Giacchino is one of the things that make the film special. This music covers every human emotion. I love the excitement captured in the piece "First Day of School". I love the carefree spirit conveyed in "Chasing the Pink Elephant". I love the frantic tone in the piece "Dream A Little Nightmare". Giacchino communicates such serenity with the piece entitled "Tears of Joy". This piece soothes me. I never thought I would ever hear music about what it sound like if I forgot to do something. "The Forgetters" is a musical piece that conveys how natural and easy It is to forget There is a bonus track entitled Lava This beautiful song is performed in the short animated short before the feature film. The ukulele playing and vocals by Kuana Torres are just lovely. This song is about a volcano dreaming about another volcano to love. I love the creative premise behind this animated short. This song exposes local Hawaiian music to a wider audience. I love that because I am from Hawaii.
