Review: A Perfect Bag and Travelling Photographer's "Home Base" - After I read the reviews for this Sony Camera bag my extensive search was over. It seem perfect for my needs and it was. I wanted the following: 1. A bag that could carry and protect the majority of my lenses and my laptop computer. I wanted the bag to serve as a Home Base which would allow me to use my Manfrotto bag for day trips bringing only the gear I need. See my review on the Manfrotto bag which is a winner as well http://www.desertcart.com/Manfrotto-MB-SM390-3BB-Unica-Messenger/dp/B00774ZQ7Y/ref=sr_1_33?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1394560395&sr=1-33&keywords=manfrotto+bag. The bag is 8 inches deep so it can hold a lens up to 8 inches tall. The space for the camera body and lens is 12 inches long and seems plenty wide enough for any 35 mm camera you might want to take. 2. A bag that was customizable to allow me to protect my gear. 3. A bag that was well made and could go in the upper luggage rack on an airplane if necessary and protect my gear. 4. I wanted a comfortable backpack design with a handle as well. 5. I wanted rain protection. 6. I wanted a protected bottom with good balance so it would stand up by itself. 7. And I wanted to spend less than $100 if possible. Mission Accomplished on all accounts. On a recent trip to Hilton Head Island, SC I loaded the bag with the following: * My Canon camera body with my Canon 28-135 lens with lens hood in shooting position (in a separate section designed for this. * My Canon 70-300 mm lens with lens hood in reverse storage position. * My Rokinon 14 mm lens with special huge cap and padded stuff bag. A thoughtful Velcro strap goes over the top of those two compartments to keep the lenses from falling out. * My Canon 17-85 lens without lens hood (I am ordering one and it will fit) * Manuals and laminated and folded reference sheet for my Canon Camera * Extra UV filters just in case. * Lens blower (looks like a spaceship with a long red nose) * 3 extra batteries and battery charger (I now have 4 extra batteries and 2 chargers) * Extra flash batteries * I did not take my flash on this trip, however, in the top compartment that is divided in two by a Velco separator, I carried other essentials. My Garman 50L GPS and cord, my phone charger cord, my computer charger cord, and a Partridge in a Pair tree. I plan to remove the Partridge and store my Canon Flash and/or fit my soon to be new Sigma 150-500mm f/5-6.3 AF APO DG OS lens which is 10 inches long. The top section is wide and long enough for the lens and there will still be room for my flash I believe. * I also have a Sony mini tripod that fits very well on the side as well as a pocket for business cards and one for a water bottle. Needless to say it holds a lot. I am 6 feet 4 inches tall and 200 pounds (dry, hungry and thirsty) so the bag fits well and it not too much for me to carry. Having said that, I would not want to carry it all day. This is where the Manfrotto bag comes in so handy holding my camera and 3 lenses plus extra batteries and my iPad if I take it out of the case (in a special padded compartment). I am very happy with the Sony and Manfrotto bags which were a both a first for this trip. The quality is great, the orange inside (Sony) makes it easy to find everything. Except for the word Sony on the bag, it could pass as a regular backpack. However, that is easy to remedy with a black sharpie or the trusty old duck tape (sorry Sony...I love your gear as well). I hope this helps. I felt this bag deserved a quality review after it served me so well. Update July 1, 2014 I have found this bag incredibly helpful and still am as high as ever about it. I have arranged gear in a way that works very well for me based on my changing needs as I get new equipment and accessories. I currently have my Canon 6D and five lenses in the bag. I keep my Canon 14-105 1:4 L IS USM on the camera and these are kept in the side compartment for easy access giving me the best option if I need to move quickly. I also have my Can 70-200 i:4 L IS USM (with lens shade reversed), my Canon 70-300 1:4 5.6 IS USM (with lens cover reversed), Canon 40mm, Rokinon 2.8 14mm, and in the top compartment I keep my Canon 400mm 1:5.6 L lens with tripod mount and the lens shade in the down position. In one side pocket I keep 3 canon back-up batteries. In the other side pocket I have a battery charger, lens and filter cleaning pens, USB cord and a few other items. The pocket on the inside of the top compartment is for memory cards, cleaning MagicFiber cleaning cloths, USB Memory stick and a polarizing filter. On the side I have strapped my Sirui monopod and top. The only thing I would recommend to Sony is to make the top handle out of a different material as mine is beginning to fray. This is not a big deal as I plan to address that in the near future with some kind of fix. The bottom line is that this is a great case and I have maximized every possible inch of space which has made photography much easier...especially switching lenses and transporting gear in a safe and protected fashion. Thank you Sony and desertcart for this great product!
Review: Excellent bag for enthusiasts and pros alike. - This is an amazing bag - you can carry so much with it, but conversely it also makes it quite heavy, but that's what it was designed to do and the comfort level is very high despite the full weight of your gear. I've got two cameras, four small E-Mount lenses, two telephoto E-Mount lenses, a flash, filters and several small accessories packed in my bag and I still have lots of space to add more stuff later. The side access panel for quickly accessing your camera is good, but I find myself still preferring to take the bag off, lay it down and access it properly. I can't shake the feeling that something would fall out if I opened it whilst still on my shoulder. Besides that, if I really needed to be able to whip out the camera at a moment's notice, I'd have it ready in my hand, not packed away. I had read in other reviews around the intertubes that people were worried about the side tripod strap not holding onto the tripod properly, and that it could slip out if the bag went upside down or what-not. I have no idea what they're talking about - once you adjust the strap, it holds on pretty damn tight - my tripod ain't going anywhere until I want it to! Easy to unclip and re-clip on as required. There's also nothing stopping you from adjusting the strap in such a way that you strap through the tripod legs for extra anti-movement security, but IMO it's not necessary to do that. The laptop sleeve easily catered for a chunky Lenovo ThinkPad W540, so it's not limited to just Ultrabooks or thin Notebooks. The carry strap and the backstraps are thick and comfortable to hold. The side pockets are deep and hold lots of memory cards. It's a shame the bag is not immediately waterproof (you use the supplied pull-out jacket), but for the price, it's difficult to complain, and my cameras aren't waterproof anyway, so you won't see me carrying it out in the rain either!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Dream of a bag, extremely heavy and bulky in nature.
*by M***R on October 20, 2020*

Yea this bag is awesome, a dream bag, except for a few things. It held my camera, all 3 lenses (that I have), my drone, remote, all of my batteries (3 for my camera, 3 for my drone), 13 inch Macbook, lens cleaning equipment, memory cards, tripod (on the outside), water bottle, AND TONS of other accessories. WITH AMPLE ROOM! Yea, thats right. All of that, with ample room. The best feature is the side window that with a flip and a zip, your camera is ready to go! Perfect for capturing the moment on a time budget. I've gotten down to around 10 seconds ready to go with that awesome side zip pocket. On top of that, its well made using premium materials, and really cool looking in typical Sony fashion. An awesome bag where fashion really does meet function! It does come at a cost however, a cost that is worth paying because of its extreme function -- that cost is extreme bulk, even to a point of discomfort. You do feel physically large while wile wearing the bag, even to a point of feeling clumsy at times. The day I got the bag I walked into a house with lots of things hanging on the walls, and had to constantly be paying attention to my surroundings and have extreme spatial awareness. With this, its also heavy, very very heavy. If you're trying to pack light, look elsewhere. As a photographer I recommend having 3 bag sizes, being choosy depending on your day. This will work perfectly as a heavy duty bag. Overall, a very very good bag, amazing function, good looking and well thought out and designed. Just prepare for bulk, size, and weight with it.
