## Description

Lace high boot For a boot that'll outlast the rest, try the Pier from Dr. Martens. Its full-grain leather upper features suede trim and adjustable lacing, while the welted construction and tough rubber outsole promise great durability.
                  P.when('A').execute(function(A) {
                      A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) {
                        window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100);
                      });
                    });

                             It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two founders decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460 (1/4/60). To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history. See more

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Do these run large?**
A: No. Buy the size you would normally wear. Also pay particular attention to the reviews regarding quality and longevity.

**Q: Can I resole these boots?**
A: None of these answers are correct. Dr. Martens are assembled with a Goodyear welt, it's one of their primary selling points. Goodyear welts are very resilient (and water resistant), and incredibly simple to resole. You can resole these shoes so long as the leather upper is in good condition, which could be virtually forever.

**Q: Seeing many reviews about the heel coming off. Has anyone owend these for a long time and not had this issue? too scared to order now.**
A: Discovered these when store ran out of my size in the 1460. Best Docs I have ever had. Use them when I ride my bike... really durable and have had no issues with the boot. Only had them for a year with mild to mid rough use. Should last at least 5 if like my other Docs... so comfortable I bought 2 extra pairs just in case it pulls a fall-apart.

**Q: Mine didn't come with extra laces, all my other docs did, the sole doesn't have the normal doc marking either. how do i know if these are real or not?**
A: They have the same markings as the ones I found at Journeys (which didn't have my side). They don't have airwair soles, like most common docs. They seem to be pretty good quality for what I paid, but time will tell if they fall apart.
