Great Bike Rack, but be careful during installation...
Purchased this on 8-13-18. Very Nice, solidly built two bike rack holds up to 70lbs. The description is not clear; however; This bike rack (Model 302DN) is only made for the 1994-2018 Jeep Wranglers (JK), (not the 2018 JL as clearly stated), 2002-2009 Jeep Liberty's and 1997-2006 Honda CRV's which is on the back of the retail packaging. The Rack is very well built and easy assembly (using only a 7/16 driver, socket or wrench). It is highly recommend that you take your time inserting the set-up pins. They will scratch the powder coat badly (as seen in one of my pics) AND they can pinch your fingers. I recommend hold the rack against your chest firmly to insert. I did the other side this way and not scratch. It's a great rack for the price!! Very well built and will works well. I will probably use some bungy cords and a lashing strap just to be safe, which I have done before in the past. Overkill is better than dropping your expensive bikes at 60mph. I hope this review is helpful for future buyers.

Near Perfect
Works great but I had to make a few of adaptations. First, the clips for the lower straps that are supposed to secure the rack to your bumper, frame, or lower part of your door, are too small and the angle of the clip didn't work well to secure the straps on my Rav4. The straps weren't long enough to reach anything but plastic at the lower rear so I tried the bottom of the rear door. It worked but didn't look secure. Instead, I replaced the clips with Shoreline hood/truck tie down straps. Those worked great and won't scratch the paint. The second minor modification was to the upper crossbar. It's metal and not protected by a rubber sleeve like the lower cross bar. The bike nearest the vehicle can make contact with the metal so it could scratch up the bike. I wrapped some paracord around it to prevent scratching. The last minor modification was also made to try to prevent contact between a bike and that crossbar. The mounting brackets for the bike closest to the vehicle can slide for and aft a little bit, allowing for more contact between the rack bars and the bike. I used two zip ties around the bar on each side to prevent those brackets from sliding closer to the rack crossbar. Overall, I like the bike rack. It could be improved, and I wish there was an included lock of some kind (I'd hate to return to the parking lot from my ride to find the rack has been stolen), but then it would cost more. So this is a near perfect bike rack at a decent price.

Make sure it’s tight and secure before you put weight on it.
Twenty minutes to put together and mount on spare. I hide the extra strap in the back and tied to the top of the mount. If you run the strap through the rim you’ll have plenty of slack. It’s secure and looks good.

Worst Bike Rack Ever!!
I purchased this bike rack on Amazon on Feb. 2nd and used the bike rack to take two bikes on a trip to Florida that extended from Feb. 6th - Mar. 8th. On my return home, the bike rack slipped off my spare tire on two separate occasions. The first time, it bent the tire rim of one of my bikes as it touched the ground and damaged the tire...luckily, I was driving through a small town at 25MPH at the time and avoided further damage. I used ratchet straps to provide additional security and support to this rack around the tire for the remainder of the trip and had a major issue 6 hours later going down the highway. The rack slipped again (the metal bars that support the bike rack in the upright position located on both sides) popped out of the holes causing the bikes to drop to the ground again and before I could pull to side of the road, the tires of both bikes were completely flat from dragging on the road along with additional structural damage to the bikes that probably can't be repaired (TBD - waiting on results from bike shop). The bikes are hybrid bikes and fortunately only cost me $350 each and weren't expensive road bikes that I also own. Furthermore, the highway (shoulder) was narrow and we were in a high risk situation trying to remove bike rack and store damaged bikes in vehicle with car pulled over on the shoulder. Fortunately, there were no accidents during this time but this created a lot of stress during this situation for both my wife and me. I was going to return this bike rack to Amazon for obvious reasons, however Amazon doesn't allow returns past 30 days for this item even though my roundtrip was more than 30 days while using this bike rack. I tried to plead my case with Allen to return this rack but they requested a lengthy process that involved reinstalling this poorly designed bike rack and bikes that are already at the shop. FYI - I have never written a bad review before until now. Buyer Beware!!

Good little bike rack
This rack was simple to put together and install. It fit right over the spare tire and latched under the door easily. The bikes mounted easily, it took me a try it two to get them on right. I was nervous about it on the 200 mile drive, constantly looking. I just knew the bikes were gonna fly off. They didn't, and I didn't hardly looked at them on the way home. They were safe and sound. And it's a reasonable price to boot. I would recommend this.

It says in the instructions to not mount on an RV spare!?
This looked to be exactly what I needed but a couple issues. Upon assembly the instructions say don't mount on an RV spare tire. I doesn't say this anywhere on the Amazon page and it doesn't say why you cannot mount on an RV spare tire.. There really is no difference between an RV spare and car/SUV spare so I proceed with caution. 2nd issue is my bike is a little heavier on the rear than the front and the rack wants to slip to the right side and possible come off the spare tire. I will have to secure further with rope to keep the bike from slipping to the left or right. Not ideal but seems like it should work.
