Tuffy2011+ JK Security Tailgate Enclosure

Took only 10 minutes to install. Also took a little gentle persuasion to get it in place. A rubber mallet did the trick. Now I can leave things in the soft top Jeep without fear of it not being there when I get back!

A bit difficult to install but not overly difficult. But fit is great and very sturdy once installed.

It was very easy to install. I also have the JLU version of this product. Way easier to install than the larger version. The only problem I have is there were no longer replacement bolts with the product. So it's still sitting in the back of the jeep, easy to rip right out. I now have to go to the hardware store and find longer bolts to secure it.

I bought this because my wife wanted a secure spot to put things when she's out shopping in MY Jeep. This installs quickly, and it's fairly easy, though you need to work it into place...it's a tight fit, but that's what you want. It wouldn't be as secure if there were gaps in the sides. It uses the existing screws in your cargo area and doesn't interfere with the back seat at all. Once this is installed, you can leave the top down on your Jeep and lock the doors. Anything stored in the cargo area is secure because the Jeep won't let you unlock the doors without the remote, so even if someone reaches into your Jeep to press the door unlock button, they can't unlock the tailgate. You can't get into the cargo area without opening the tailgate. As a bonus, this creates a shelf across the back below the back seat headrests. I keep a couple small camping chairs on that shelf with the carry straps looped under the headrests so that they're secure and don't take up any cargo space.

If you’re on the fence getting this, just get it. At the moment of writing this, there are only 3 left in stock via amazon. I bought this for my 4 door jk because I wanted some space still open to throw things and if I wanted to lay or sit in the back with the rear seats down, and wasn’t sure if custom sub boxes meant to go on the side of the rear would fit the full size model of this.The metal is very strong and can take a pounding. If a thief is determined, they’ll get through it though. But what are you doing with the top off in an unknown or unsafe area anyways.. after 15 seconds or so of locking your car, the lock buttons from the inside do not work so keep that in mind if you have your doors still on.Anyways, great product and happy with the purchase. A little pricey but worth it and I love the fact that I could put magnetic things on this and sticker bomb it.

I love my 2 door and the only thing missing in my Jeeping experience was a place to lock my stuff. After extensive searching online I settled on the Tuffy Tailgate Enclosure. I had some hesitation as I couldn't find any great pictures and wasn't sure how great it would fit or how difficult it might be to remove. It was pretty easy to install and should not be a problem to take out if I want to use the back to carry more stuff. No drilling into your precious Jeep is required, it attaches to two existing bolts and the top keys in under the rim of the Jeep. Most importantly, it fits like a glove and feels very secure! I didn't lose an inch of trunk space either. It is designed to fit snugly and I think would keep a light rain out. Excellent product!The seller was very helpful too! I wasn't sure it would fit around my amp and so I contacted the seller regarding the return policy and received a very prompt response. They even were able to confirm that it would fit around my amp. Highly recommend!

Fits very snug with OEM quality seals/gaskets around the edges... which is the only thing that made the install a little tougher. Overall, install was very quick and simple (1/2 hr). Remove the T30 Torx bolts at the back of the rear tray, tumble the back seat out of the way and go for it. Of note, the version I received had a top that was hinged as opposed to bolted. No opening up the top for taller items once installed. You'd have to remove the unit for that. The enclosure takes full advantage of the limited space behind the rear seat on a 2 door JK and secures it proper. We don't have electric locks, so there is no way in without the key to the tailgate. Once installed, you'll have to kind of open the rear seat as you tumble it back in order to get the seat to latch properly back in place. Surprised that no OEM option exists for the JK, as there was an option for the TJ... but this unit makes better use of the limited space.

Up until today I would have given this five stars - installed easily and quickly and gave me a secure space to store small items when away from the Jeep. But after using for less than 1,500 miles found a dime size hole in the fabric on my back seat where the seat and Tuffy enclosure meet. Turns out there are two vertical metal post just behind the seat fabric near the outer edges that rub against the Tuffy enclosure when the seat isn't folded and tumbled forward. I appreciate that Tuffy is trying to maximize the space but a 1/4 of clearance would have prevented this. I'm going to see if possible to trim a 1/4 inch off where it meets the tailgate and release the pressure as otherwise great to have but if that doesn't work will need to get rid of this.
