Borderlands 3

As a game, it’s quite fun. Gearbox have upped the legendary loot quantity - by level 10 I had full orange gear. The gunplay is exceptionally smooth and every shot feels weightier than in the previous games. The mechanics work almost perfectly. The only issue I’ve had with the mechanics is actually just an issue with my controller, everything works flawlessly and flows perfectly. Graphics are overall good but at times - especially at Moxxie’s slot machines - they can be very obviously bad. The only real reason I’m knocking a star is the characters. The vast majority of the characters are as boring as could be. The main baddies are just so plain and bland as villains, I found myself checking my phone every time they spoke by the time the second planet rolled around. They’re not the only bad characters, and I’m not on about the psychos. I’d buy it for a ‘guilty pleasure’ - that game you go to so you can blow off steam and gun down some faceless enemies. If you’re looking for story, however, I’d suggest you look elsewhere.

About as fun as piles
If you like the other borderlands games and are thinking of getting this, don't, it's trash. Save your money, buy subnautica or something.I've been a massive fan of borderlands, got the first one when it first came out and was hooked from then. Completed bl1 and 2 goty editions and nearly all the dlc which was all brilliant. Tiny Tina's assault on dragon keep was incredible, playing that co-op was one of the most satisfying gaming experiences I've had. Borderlands 3 is another story...Where do I start? The playable characters are soulless and unimaginative, very boring to play, they also have horrible immitations of accents, one of them is supposed to have an Irish accent but it's an absolutely shocking attempt at an Irish accent (I'm half Irish). It's cringey to hear your character talk because it's so bad. They also got a cheaper actor to play claptrap because they were too stingy to cast the same actor who's played him throughout the rest of the entire series. Considering they made like a billion dollars in the first couple of weeks of making the game, that's seriously tight fisted of them. The story line is really quite bland, I stopped taking notice of it, it just wasn't gripping at all. The missions are unimaginative and the gameplay is extremely boring. They've absolutely ruined the gameplay, for two main reasons. One: they have made the game far too easy, you can't pick hard difficulty you're stuck with very easy or extremely easy, even the bosses require zero effort, tactics or teamwork to kill. Just point and spray and they die very easily same as everything else. Two: the loot is all crap. One of the main things about borderlands that made it so fun in the past was the joy finding good loot, in bl3 the porter toilets don't even have loot in them any more and the loot in the chests is the same as the crap you pick up off the floor. So that aspect of the game is also ruined. They probably want you to spend money on golden keys/loot crates or whatever. No thanks. On top of this they changed badass rank so it doesn't unlock until you've already completed the game once... another fun thing taken away. The dialogue is all pretty lazy and generic, it was very clever and funny in the other games. They changed the menus and overlays for no apparent reason, they looked way better and we're more intuitive before. They made it so you pick up all the ammo when you open an ammo crate which is really annoying when you're playing co-op as you can't share out ammo. Oh and they added emotes to the characters, presumably in an attempt to make it more like fortnite? I almost threw up when I discovered that. Crinnnnge. It's like they have gone out of their way to make it as unsatisfying and annoying as possible. I gave it a fair trial but I just can't play it. Me and my friend who I completed the others with just could not get any joy out of it.We played it when it came out and was very disappointed, we'd waited years for this game, they had a good thing going with the other games, all they had to do was keep it up. We played it for 20 mins and was so outraged we quit and didn't bother giving it another try until about 6 months later. By this point we'd calmed down and got over all the initial disappointment, so decided to treat it as its own game and not compare it to the others. I'd say we played for about 4-5 hours in total over a few gaming sessions second time around, probably did about 20% of tue main quests, and we only played that long in the hope that it'd become fun. It didn't. You're flogging a dead horse trying to get any joy out of this game. I feel like it would seem good if you were 5, one of those 5 year olds that isn't allowed to use crayons because they'll eat them. Everything has been dumbed down so much and is so half arsed, it's really quite dreadful to play.
