Nothing helps. It looks cheap and causes tripping hazard, especially since I use mine in the kitchen.I am not recommending it. The first one lasted 2 years.The quality of this rug is good: fairly thin but protects the floor. Stays put for the most part. It's pretty large so it covers all of the most likely spill areas (below sink, stove and counter tops). It's also quite soft on bare feet. I ordered the natural Berber color which lightens up the dark wood floors of my kitchen quite nicely. However, this rug does seem to collect more debris than most rugs requiring a nice "shake out" or vacuum every evening to keep it clean.
