This ocarina is really beautiful. It's a very dark brown with some slightly ...
I gave this ocarina to my husband for our 8 year wedding anniversary. It fit into the traditional pottery gift theme that we try to adhere to every year.As soon as he opened it, he knew exactly what it was. He was quite the Zelda fan as a child! This ocarina is really beautiful. It's a very dark brown with some slightly lighter creamy brown swirls. The curves are very graceful and it fits perfectly in the hand. The beaded thread that comes with the set is able to be strung through the holes on the ocarina and draped around the neck. You really want to keep it securely around your neck when it's out of the case because this pottery piece will likely break if dropped. It's quite substantial, but also delicate. It also comes with a padded fitted sleeve case to keep it in.The sound that comes out of this instrument is beautiful. It is deep and melodic. My husband spent all evening trying to learn some of the songs that were included in the songbook. He's learning what amount of airflow each note needs, how to place his mouth, etc. He's in love with this ocarina and I couldn't have imagined it going over any better. There are already plans to bring it to RenFest next year!I often get items to review for discounted costs, but this item is one that I paid full price for. Totally worth it! He actually assumed that I paid much more for it than I did. Great value!

So much fun and great sound!
My nephew just loves this! He found the instructional book (included with purchase) to be easy to use and has conquered his first song. I like to think of myself as hip and with it (yeah, right!) but, I admit I’d not heard of this instrument until a couple weeks ago. For those like me - it is apparently gaining popularity due to The a Legend of Zelda. Let me tell you, this sounds a million times better than the recorder music classes often start kids off with. I think it is a great first go at wind instruments. I will try and get my nephew to add to this review as he can provide a different take on it. For $20, it is a great buy.

A Beautiful Instrument with a Few Drawbacks
First I must preface by saying I'm not a trained musician, just an enthusiastic amateur. There is a lot about this Ocarina to love and a few things that keep it from being perfect.PROS-Unique appearance. No, it doesn't look exactly like the picture but if I wanted an exact copy I'd buy plastic.-Nice haunting sound-The shape makes it easier to support with your right pinkie, useful for hitting those high notes-Seems to be in tune (Note: many reviews state that it is not. I can not speak to their experience, but I do know that as a wind instrument, the ocarina's pitch can be greatly influenced by breath control. An imperfect seal on a closed hole can sour notes as well. The ocarina is simple enough to learn, but good sounds will still only come from practice and good technique)-Contrary to what other reviews state, the cord has an adjustable knot to make the loop biggerCONS-Heavy. Supporting the weight with just the fingers is gonna lead to some sore joints after a while, especially when playing higher notes. This also means it can be easy to unbalance but I feel that with time I can adapt to this. Beginners may want to consider a plastic ocarina to start, but ceramic has it's perks-Pouch is only good for protecting from the elements. If you drop this on a hard surface in the pouch it will still very likely break.-Holes feel a little too close togetherAll in all it's a good instrument, especially for the price.

The ocarina itself looks beautiful, sounds beautiful
I've wanted an ocarina for an unnaturally long time. Yet, for whatever case, never bought one throughout the years. Until now that is.While I don't have an extensive knowledge on playing the instrument, I think it's still worth speaking up on the quality of this specific ocarina. The sound it makes is very clear and to my ears, exactly where alto c should be (5-6th octave). The ocarina itself looks beautiful, sounds beautiful, and is big enough to hold comfortably. The team ocarina wind seems to understand the product. Maybe it's my young impression of the tool, but I cannot recommend enough to give this a whirl as one to play with.

Pretty, sturdy, and looks well made. But isnt 100% tuned correctly (almost D?, instead of its advertised C).
Beautiful ocarina, but it's off tuned near D. It not in C. It sounds great by itself, but to the trained ear or with other music, it sounds off. It also has a strong chemical smell, something probably related to the varnish, although it us much stronger from the inside. A slightly weird thing to complain about, but the music book it comes with has a poorly designed layout, with scales that require you to flip the page and back to read a single scale. Aside from those issues, it has a decent sound, it being decently tuned to itself. It's got a great look, is sturdy, and comes with a songbook, carrying case, and a nice string strap thing.

Good product for the price!
Good product for the price. The tuning is wonky toward the top of the range, but not hard to adjust if you are familiar with wind instruments. Has a hint of green, but is mostly brown. Looks lovely and plays nicely!

Beautiful ocarina with a great sound
Fast shipping, was packaged very well. The ocarina itself is amazing especially for the price. The notes are easy to play and sound great. I am definitely very happy with it

Pretty, but useless.
This ocarina was very pretty. It was a little heavy to wear around your neck. The strap was very small so might not fit most adults. The ocarina is hard to blow. It is not in tune. The lower pitches sound nice, but inconsistent and require a lot of air. The high notes are a mess. I do not recommend this ocarina as an instrument or as a necklace. Perhaps it could be a decoration. I instead bought the focalink plastic ocarina and couldn’t be happier with it. Highly recommend the focalink to other beginners. It is easy to play and in tune.

Sounds good, feels nice in the hand, good value.
Good quality for price. Sounds fine. It's my first Ocarina so I can't really compare it to any other. Few minor issues with the finish, but doesn't affect the sound, rather gives it a bit of character.
