Exactly what I needed
So I chose the Kindle version since it's a short read. You'll see alot of people calling this book a pamphlet and getting all butthurt about it in the reviews. Yeah it's short, get over it.I just started my jiu Jitsu journey and many white belts can probably relate to the fact that in the beginning its nerve racking not having a mental road map to start your journey. Chris does a great job outlining the essentials of getting started. These aren't tips you use as a white belt and then discard as a blue belt. What Chris has done is layed out a foundation upon which higher level bjj pursuits will build upon in your journey. Information in this book is priceless but yes like other readers, physical copy should cost alot less due to its length.

Essential Reading for the Journey
I really appreciated the simplicity of this book, and its approach of breaking down the basics of Jiu Jitsu to make it less overwhelming. It's not a "how to" book so much as a guide of primary principles to keep in mind early in the journey. I have an analytical mind and prefer a systematic approach to learning, and this read helped reassure me that being "a work in progress" is all good. I also really enjoyed the author's premise that Jiu Jitsu is a strong tool for personal development and applicable to a much broader swath of life.

Nice read
The book it is very pleasant to read , surprisingly more philosophy of life then jiu jitsu technique. As a beginner in class , where I can hardly understand the terminology it really made order and clarity. Good guiding lines.4 stars only just because the price ... it is really only 1 hour reading .

Great read for the beginner BJJ practitioner
I’ve started and stopped training 2x now as a result of moving and not having a gym near by. As a white belt, I liked how he breaks things down especially in chapter 2 describing and breaking down the concepts and techniques. I feel like it actually made it click better than any explanation I’ve heard yet.Overall a good and easy read. I’ve already got another one of his books on deck, I’ll prob be getting the rest soon!

I read this book 3x
I received my blue belt last night after 8 months of training hard and taking the advice from this book. I found it extremely helpful in guiding my outlook on the white belt journey. It really helped to solidify my goals and expectations. I highly recommend it for every white belt. Hang in there!

A short but fantastic read
I’m just beginning my journey into Jiu Jitsu and this was a really great read. I must have highlighted ten quotes throughout this book. I highly encourage you to give this one a try if you are even remotely interested in starting.

Absolutely excellent!!!
This is an amazing book and primer for the new jiu jitsu practitioner. I could see this being given to new students along with their first Gi. Highly recommended and I will definitely seek out more books on the topic from this same author. Five stars!!!

Great book for a beginner
Just started training - this book opened my eyes to the possibilities and mental aspects required as a white belt, each training session now I flick through it whilst sitting in the car and pick out a line or two that resonate
