Better product
I got the one that was a kit and cost a few dollars more. After about a week one channel of the LES's stopped working. So I ordered these. They came already soldered and ready to go. My goal was to use ten of them in a analyzer configuration. And 3D print a housing for it. I could not be more impressed. They will work on voltages down to 4.6 volt D.C. and up to 12 volt D.C. the LED's are very bright at first power up, but after you play around with the settings you have the option of three levels of brightness. and not know how many modes but at least 6 . I would of gave five stars for this and it deserves it but I deducted one cause of no programming info for the modes and brightness.. Oh I got the last three with a total of five sets. This is enough for my project. I would recommend others in my field to buy.

Sort of Just a Toy
I wanted to set this up as a peak-level registering VU meter to check how close amplifiers are to clipping. Its not a very good meter -- below 68 mV rms at 1kHz input only the first green LED is on. At 83mV four green LEDs are on, and at 84mV five green LEDs go on. Between 90 and 112mV both orange LEDs are also on, and at 113mV one red LED goes on. Above 113mV all three red LEDs are on. If you assume both orange LEDs on up to 112mV are equivalent to "0-dB" you get a dynamic range below 0-dB of -4.3dB! Measured the same on both channels. So, it makes pretty blinking lights with music input, but as a VU meter its pretty useless!

Great unit at the price
Hard to find fault at this price point. Unit works well, several modes available with or without peak hold, good bright display. Still haven't figured out what they mean by agc; to have a meter with agc (automatic gain control) would be self defeating. I found I needed to add a pot (volume control) to get it into the useful range - native sensitivity is too great for either home (-10db) or pro (+4db) use without some reduction of game, but that's preferable to not having enough gain. First one I received had problems, but of course Amazon is great at replacing defective bits.

Good for indicating a signal, not much else.
Frequency response of this device is all over the map - But flickers and dances up and down when there's a constant sine wave input. This doesn't appear to be indicating any kind of actual levels, just doing random patterns that look fun when there's an audio signal present. Good for blinkylights, but not actual audio monitoring.Wire colors are non-standard.

No documentation
Is just the flashy light with this automatic gain control I've searched and searched for ways to disable it unable to do so and then it's pointless if I can't set a reference point was trying to set a reference point under clipping at 40 Hertz on rca line level tried 50-500k and 500k-1ml audio potsfor some reason Amazon does not let me message the seller to see if I could possibly get some documentation on how disable the automatic gain control (AGC Mode )

Nice display
They work great but they can add noise to your system.
