Why does it freeze unevenly (it forms a bulge)?

I had that problem to even with the medium one's so started laying them down flat in the freezer door and that pretty much cured the problem I had a different brand and they did the same thing. I think when the stuff inside starts to unthaw it settles down to the bottom and you refreeze them straight up and down it expands at the bottom and there's the bulge so I would laying it flat when refreezing hope that helps

Are they non toxic, says they are non toxic in description, but one that i have at home, says avoid contact with skin.??? which is it. thank you.

If I have one break open, I throw it away.

What material are these made from?

I believe some kind of polyurethane, they are really thick. In my experience they work great and last all day compared to others I've used in the past.
