Why are there so many complaints about the quality of chocolates on these?

Because its counterfeit, or less likely they are verrrrry old or messed up batches., ...no way EVER will you find Godiva chocolates 27 pieces!! For 22.00$!!!!!!!! No way. Check real Godiva sites you will see. . If they were real there would not be even one complaint that they tasted old or bad.

How does this item get shipped? I'm seeing quite a few reviews which mention the chocolate was received either melted or old.

This item is shipped directly from Amazon when you purchase it from Teleported Treasures this time of year. Our chocolate was received directly from a Godiva representative and is fresh. Melted chocolate can happen during the early spring or late fall months when there is unexpected hot weather and the item is shipped from PRIME shipping. I am doubtful there would be a problem this time of year (November). Be that as it may, DON"T leave it in the mailbox for 2 days. We send a notification on the day it is to be delivered and you should look for the mail person and get it from them. Anything, even chocolate that has cooling bags in it, can melt if left in a very hot place for too long. After all, we want it to melt smoothly when we eat it so there's no way to avoid that issue! ! Happy Shopping! If you are very concerned about a hot climate, don't order it from PRIME, instead, order if from GODIVA, who is a seller on here, and does ship with cooling bags.
