Very disappointed.
I bought this book for my 4 year old who is in and out of doctors appointments for a medical condition. This book, like others said, is more like a pamphlet than a book. Very small and not as big as I'd expect it to be. It's very basic and I felt like I could tell him everything this book tells him in 2 minutes myself and be fine. Overpriced as the book says $1.99 on the back and I paid way more for it used. It was so basic and simple (not well written to us) that I felt it was more for my 2 year old (who probably wouldn't understand it anyways). NOT worth buying. VERY disappointed in this Usborne book. Wish I could send it back but don't want to pay more $.

Comprehensive and mostly true-to-life
I have been looking for books about doctors/hospitals because my 2yr old wants to know what her Daddy does at work. So I was NOT looking for books that are about or even mention being scared of going to the doctor-- she is not scared of doctors whatsoever and I did not even want that possibility to arise in her imagination. This is a great book in that respect-- it is not about how doctors are not scary, etc... it's just about what happens when you go there! I've found that telling my kids not to be scared of something simply makes them think that there is something to possibly be scared of. So we don't use that language when it comes to doctors, dentists, etc. Most of the scenarios are very true-to-life, which was also important for my needs. The main things that are different from (most) real doctor's offices is that this book does not show any nurses and the exams take place in the doc's office as opposed to an exam room! So, those elements were a tiny bit disappointing, but other than that, it's pretty realistic and uses the real terms like otoscope and immunizations. These are words that our kids know, so that is really nice reinforcement. My daughter's favorite part is the chest/throat exam. My favorite part is the beleaguered mom with the screaming infant in the waiting room.Definitely a great book if you want a friendly, simple story about what goes on at the pediatrician's office.

Great book, a little old school
Wonderful book about going to the doctor. I keep it in my office (I'm a pediatrician) and have read it to my son.Pros: Beautiful illustrations, covers lots of aspects of going to the doctor, from sick through well visits, but still a short story. Has a female doctor (like most pediatricians as of 2012).Cons: Shows a more old school office, paper, no computers. Shows doctor giving the vaccines instead of a nurse (as in 99% of offices). Shows the ORAL polio vaccine being given, which is not used at all in the USA anymore- it's a shot. Shows exam being done next to desk instead of with an examination table.

Good book
Great book for getting your preschooler ready for the doctor visit. I wish it came as a board book, though. My daughter has had us read it to her many times and she also likes finding the little duck hidden in the pages.

Overly detailed to a point of painfulness
My kid loves this book, but is so painful to read it. For a book about going to the doctor, it has endless detail. Do we really have to explain to my 3 year old that the drops in her mouth stop polio?

simple but entertaining
This book is good for 2 to 3 year olds. The illustrations resemble real life. The children in my class enjoyed it.

Great book
This is only a small book but it’s great for keeping in your bag or pushchair! It’s really good for younger children to understand with great pictures for them to look at. I really recommend this book for helping with children who may be nervous about seeing a doctor

Useful little book for young children
Useful little book to prepare young children aged about 2-4 years for a doctors trip. I also recommend the dentists book in this series.

More like a pamphlet than a book
Nicely written but it's more like a pamphlet than a book! It's over priced for what you get and the children will probably destroy it very quickly. A shame because other than that it's a nice book. A board book would have been better, especially for the price.

This book is a paperback miniature!
The book itself is good but I was unhappy as I expected it to be bigger. My fault as I didn't notice this when ordering so please be careful.
