## Overview

The Beyerdynamic TG V70 is a professional dynamic vocal microphone featuring a hypercardioid polar pattern for superior feedback rejection and vocal isolation. With a factory-tuned frequency response and high sensitivity, it delivers powerful, clear, and warm sound straight out of the box. Its rugged metal construction and advanced acoustic design reduce handling noise, making it a reliable choice for live performances and studio use. Engineered in Germany, the TG V70 stands out as a premium alternative to popular models, favored by discerning vocalists seeking precision and presence.

## Description

Whether it's the feel or the sound, the dynamic TG V70d live vocal microphone with a hyper cardioid polar pattern is sure to impress both on the stage and behind the mixing console - for the singer, the audience and the rental company. The reasons: the powerful, extremely well resolved sound, the excellent feedback reduction and a marked proximity effect with saturated bass to support less powerful voices. Even without help from the tone control of the mixing console, it delivers an impressively rounded and exceptionally powerful sound. In other words: you only have to plug it in and activate the high-pass filter and you're done. Additional to its great looks, its handling and well-thought-out housing construction with a progressively damped capsule suspension for low handling noises will make it the standard for stage professionals. Available with or without switch.

Review: The best in it's class! - Super excellent mic!!! The sleeper of all dynamic microphones! I A/B this mic on my fishman solo amp at same settings with Sennheiser e935 and Sennheiser e965, and... Oh my God!! Wow!!! You have to hear it! What Shure or others!!! This mic came with its own frequency curve plotted at the factory in Germany. The sensitivity is a 4 compared to the 2.8 of the 935. So, with it plugged in, it needs no doctoring plus it is very clear, polished and as loud as the 965 while much louder than the 935. The tone is warm and clear as well. Seriously, I can't compliment this microphone enough. I heard it on a YouTube video and bought and I was right. A hyper cardioid dynamic microphone made by a family run business in Germany that is better (in my opinion) than the Sennheiser e935 and similar to the e965. You will never go wrong and you will thank me! In addition to this, I ordered their condenser TG V96C. This company does not advertise like the others, while their product is miles ahead and quietly better than its competition hands down!!!
Review: High gain and strong proximity effect - Comparing this mic carefully to the Sennheiser e945, Telefunken M80, as well as some less expensive mics (Audix OM5, Shure SM58), the most obvious things I noted was that this mic is much hotter than the others, and it has by far the most pronounced proximity effect. The fit and finish is poor for a mic in this price range, but it seems to be well made nonetheless. To compare the sound of this mic, I had to compensate for the much greater gain it has. While the Sennheiser e945 had significantly more gain (almost 2dB) than the SM58, this mic was around 6dB hotter than any other I tried. I also needed to compensate for this increase in gain when considering how well it resisted feedback. The TG-V70D has a hypercardioid polar pattern, which is tighter than the e945's supercardioid. It seemed to resist feedback better than the e945, which is really the only fault I found with the Sennheiser. However, this tighter pattern probably contributes to a more pronounced proximity effect (omnidirectional mics typically have no proximity effect at all). If I sing right on the TG-V70D or one or two inches away, the proximity effect is almost overwhelming. The recording sounds like I'm singing in a tube. I use a recording so I can hear my voice in the mic without my voice in my head. If I hold the TG-V70D about 6 inches away, it sounds good. I am not surprised that Beyerdynamic also offers a TG-V71D model with compensation for the proximity effect. If you want a clear, natural-sounding voice while close micing, look into the '71 model. If you use the proximity effect intentionally, the '70 will definitely do that. I am looking for a natural sounding mic, and I could only use the TG-V70D at a good distance. The Audix mics I compared (OM2 and OM5) are also tight hypercardioid polar patterns, but do not seem to have nearly as much proximity effect as the TG-V70D. They have about as much as the SM58 does. The fit and finish of the Beyerdynamic is weak. It features a silver sticker around the base of the mic. The zinc body is painted grey metallic similar to the SM58. The windscreen screws on with only a couple of threads. Even the Audix mics compare favorably with sharper paint on the brand logo, and gold-plated XLR pins. The Sennheiser and the Telefunken have much nicer fit and finish as one would expect for mics over two hundred dollars. They have gold-plated pins, special powder type coatings on the zinc bodies, and the Sennheiser has a fine windscreen, whereas the M80's is chrome-plated. They Beyerdynamic is really only nicer than the SM58. Overall, I do recommend the Beyerdynamic TG-V70D if one is seeking a hypercardioid dynamic vocal mic with a strong proximity effect. The Audix mics are good, USA-made alternatives in the hypercardioid pattern, with less proximity effect. For a quality-made German product, consider the Sennheiser e845 and e945 for a similar but slightly less tight supercardioid pattern. Audio-Technica also makes some hypercardioid mics I have not tried.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ High gain and strong proximity effect

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great mic!
*by D***K on July 9, 2016*

I just started singing and this is my first microphone. I have nothing to compare it to, other than what I personally want to sound like and what I've heard on recordings all my life. This mic is warm and clean and really awesome. I've used it in my marshall as50d alongside my guitar and it sounds amazing. It has a definite preferred area for you to sing into..I'd say it's like a figure 8 in the center of the mic and after about 3 inches away from the tip the mic doesn't pick your voice up as well. This may be normal, again I'm new. When you're singing very close to it, like lips touching, it sounds amazing.
