Saregama Carvaan 2.0 Portable Digital Music Player - Sound by Harman/Kardon (with 20,000 Songs) (with WiFi, Champagne Gold Color)

Absolutely amazing. Have been waiting for this player.Sound quality is great given these are mostly oldies we are talking about. App is very useful - so that you can play songs using app in desired sequence or play playlist. It is spotty at times trying to search for the player. But for most part it works. Searching is very helpful feature. Still trying Wifi feature that allows additional content to be played including regional content not on the player. That is a big plus over older version.That said - you do not have to have an app or phone. You can simply turn on the player, select the channel. Out of 5000, 10% will qualify as evergreen and truly classic. So if you do not like the song that is playing, just skip to the next using the hard buttons.While most of these songs can be downloaded and I have them in various forms - I even converted CDs in FLAC fully knowing that these are oldies and you might not get much benefit, having them in one place - dedicated and getting the treatment they deserve, makes this player hard to beat proposal. The player comes in different colors. I love the champagne gold color - it is pleasing to the eye. The player is heavier then the standard version and does not feel cheesy - which I like - although that is matter of personal taste and these many song will fit on a 8 GB flash drive. While most of the classics and evergreen songs are included - I could not find some of my old favorites which are hard to find and many catchy 80s songs. That would be a minor issue as realistically it is not going to be possible to have all, considering that Saregama may not even have the rights to some.Many would say this is for previous generations and more targeted to our elders. I tend to disagree. While there are so many good new songs that get churned out today from very talented singers like Arijit Singh, Sonu Nigam, Shan, Hariharan and before them Alka Yagnik, Kumar Sanu I somehow rarely hear them a year or two from now, not many people do. These songs from Lata, Asha, Kishore, Rafi, Mukesh, Manna Dey, Yesudas, Jagjit Singh and many more supremely talented artistes from 50s/60s/70s are played on most radio channels even today and they continue to age like old wine.

This radio with Amin Sayani is a great Geet Mala has all of Best songs collection. Sound with Herman Karden is an excellent radio. Some customers mentioned they don’t like Amin Seyani as commentators. This is unfortunate but still they have option to select all old songs without geet mala

Let me start by saying that it looks and sounds good. Now the bad part - I have the one with wifi feature so that I can listen to '20000' songs as it claims. The in-built song library is ok and works, but for some reason it seems repetative, irrespective of what is selected and not very exciting. The wifi feature is what I wanted it for. However, it is poorly implemented. There is no buffering, so song stop playing midway (if it starts) and then resumes automatically. And note that this is not once in and hour or so, but in every song it happens atleast twice or thrice. Moreover, the channels are unordered, so good luck with it. And if youbl try to dial to a station/channel, be ready to wait endlessly for something to play. SaReGaMa ia a big name - how can they be so pathetic in implementing. And last, did I tell you the technology used seems more in the 70s? I underatand the looks to be retro, but technology??? Really??? I just kept it, and my kids have one more toy to play with.UPDATE as of FEB 28 2020 -The more I try to use it, the more painful it is to hear. The in-build songs have glitches. The songs skip like they would on an old vinyl. Repetitive commentary and same songs, does not matter which channel you play. I would in fact challenge their claim of in-build 5000 songs. I feel they are more close to just 100 or less. Listening to it since I bought, I have heard probably not more than 100. Does not matter for how long you keep it on. I would also challenge their claim of 20000 songs on wifi... the number will be probably 100 or so there too.I WOULD DEFINITELY SUGGEST TO SAVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY AND NOT GET FOOLED BY THE OVERALL RATINGS.

Beautiful collection for those of us who are perpetually in the magical decades of Hindi Music . My mum was a huge fan of Rafi and she used to sing them all the time when she was pregnant with me. I kid you not that I knew many of Rafi's songs before I knew the alphabet . Buy and enjoy this unit !!

Its all in one for Hindi Music Lovers. I like the Caravaan App where you can pick a playlist and Harmon Kardon speakers make a difference.

The Antenna broke after 3-4 months. The buttons on the side get stuck at times

This is a great product idea for old hindi film music lovers that is quite poorly executed. I gifted this to many close friends and family but for most of them, it stopped working after a while. The hardware product is of very poor quality and the unit stops working altogether or plays only certain songs. More importantly, the company does not stand behind its product. You are stuck with a piece of junk, you cant get a refund and it isn't easy (or impossible to fix). All of the above must be apparent from the countless reviews already on this page. The main issue is that the sd-card in which all the songs are stored buried deep inside the circuitry which gets corrupt. Most of the problems mentioned here ("does not play in saregama mode", "can't select mode", "only plays one song", "makes screeching sound", etc) are attributable to it. Those who are brave enough to open the box and take out the card won't be able to fix it either (there are some teardown videos on youtube to do it if you care). This is because for some reason even replacing it with another card with the same songs does not work Perhaps some file format issue, or some DRM, I am not sure. If anyone has successfully tried replacing the sd-card and has been able to make it work again, pl share. Most people who bought it love it - till it works. When it stops working, there are a lot of disgruntled customers as you can see from the reviews.Overall recomm - sadly - DO NOT buy this unless you are ready to get frustrated because it will most likely stop working after a few months/ year.

I just bought Saregama Carvaan 2.0 couple weeks ago and on verge of returning it. I cannot change the modes as it just goes directly to Geetmala and I am tired of it. I have to turn off and keep pressing the mode buttons. Pricey machine and I did not expect this issue I like someone from the company to advise how to fix this or send the new machine. This one definitely has some technical issue.Not pleased with this after paying high price for it.

It is not working it was gifted to abroad if they started the station are just shuffling frequently

Can’t seem to change mode. Who do I contact Pain to return it if it can be fixed over phone. Please advice !!Called Customer service they said they will send a fedex slip to return and then send a replacement. But if replacement does not come who do I chase for refund. ? Amazon will be out of it ...

It’s just a waste of money as it starts giving problems after 3-4 months and every time they charge 1300rs n replace it wd other refurbished product which lasts only 3-4 months and this process continues So I hd vet bad experience Sound quality is ok Don’t Buy this
