Love Lupin and FINALLY an English translation for a collection of Lupin's twisted, witty charms!
Love Lupin.Who does NOT love a classy, civilized, well-mannered, witty and charming French gentleman with a boy-ish twist of character?I have looked for Lupin books since I was 12 and they were pretty hard to find then, and now there are about 13 stories in one book!He is THE classic gentleman thief. The inspiration to so many popular culture gentleman art/jewel/almost-about-anything thieves, it is rather a wonder that most Americans do not know about him. He inspired so many pop culture characters throughout the world in movies, tv series, other books and even anime. It IS an old book, a classic of sorts, but that makes it even more delicious. This is not a serious-type book but more of a puzzle, game-sort. So book-lovers and non-lovers alike can love Arsene Lupin. For both children and adults, this book canNOT be left out of any collection of books!

Not even close to the feel of the Netflix series but just as good
I enjoyed the Netflix series and was curious about the original stories. They're vastly different in tone (as well as being set in different times). The TV series is more suspenseful and you are on the edge of our seat wondering how Lupin will get away. The stories in this book aren't suspenseful and don't go much into the minute details of how he does it. These stories are more about Lupin the character and how he pretty much gloats over his triumphs. He's super confident which sounds like it'd be annoying but isn't, they're fun to read and full of details about the age in which they're set.

If you like old fashioned stories with lots of plot twists with a legendary anti-hero this is a book for you. Short stories that link characters and plots to individual stories. Somewhat like Sherlock Holmes but from the other side of the law.

My book is used not new :(
Despite the fact that I bought this book for $17 with the assumption that it was new, there are many signs of water and tear. While I love the book, the copy I bought has been bent, there are scratches on the cover and some of the pages are dirty. I don’t really care about this kind of thing, but I know some people get iffy about it. So beware.

Belle Epoch Comes Alive
I bought this book on the recommendation of my French wife who knows I love Sherlock Holmes. She read it as a teenager in French. I love the Penguin translation. Although Lupin is often compared to Holmes (Leblanc did that himself), he is really a character all to himself, delighting in his cunning as Holmes did but exercising it on the other side of the law. The stories, or multiple épisodes, capture turn-of-the-century France in a style that is highly readable and evocative for a Francophile. I've enjoyed reading it slowly and recommend it to others as it was offered to me.

A great read! I was introduced to this book by a special offer, and am very happy I was. A quick read with a well-defined plot and many interesting characters to follow. I will be looking for other books by this author and about this Gentleman Thief!

A curated collection of the very best adventures of Arsène Lupin
These stories – the best of the Lupin series, including “The Queen’s Necklace” and “Arsène Lupin in Prison”– are outrageous and witty, for the full enjoyment of those who love masters of disguise, extraordinary heists, and the panache found with Sherlock Holmes, James Bond, Ocean’s Eleven and Lupin.

Brilliant.
We love this book. Shame the other Arsene Lupin books are so hard to find these days! Really clever mystery stories about a detective who rivals Sherlock Holmes (quite literally, in one story). Very much enjoyed seeing how each story unfolded and each mystery resolved.

Good to read the original after viewing the series
Well written, although they seem dated in a way that Conan Doyle, for all that he wrote around the same time, still is contemporary. I'm not sure I'd read any more Lupin stories, but as I said in the headline, it is good to read the original and I am enjoying the stories.

Wadliwy produkt
Nie dość, że książka przyszła chyba z innego wydawnictwa, jest też poniszczona a co do wymiany to nawet nie ma takiej opcji do wybrania.

It's in the narration!
I'd heard of Lupin, read a stray story or two, but never really considered him with any amount of seriousness. This time around, some random browsing landed Lupin and I looked into the idea of him properly. Sounded masterful, so went ahead and got this collection as a starter. It's pretty pricey, in my opinion, I suppose that is since Lupin's got some whirlwind popularity from the recent Netflix series. But was in great condition and the set of stories is well-chosen!How's the book? Brilliantly entertaining! Lupin, in a few words, is an enterprising, almost mythological daredevil, master of disguise, robs the undeserving, plays tricks on the police, saves people in distress unsought and invariably woos charming ladies. There's a lot of genius, both criminal and detective, involved. A lot of humour, a lot of Arsène Lupin, in fact!
