DIYS "Hole" fix no more grounds and nesting in 24oz camping pot.
Keeps coffee piping hot for longer without burning your hands! I love this mug. Yes, the "hole" does allow grounds to get in your cup, no matter how slow or stable you press. After some experimentation, I found the "hole" prevents hot beverage from pouring out onto the handle and burning you or making a mess while pressing, soooo, I took an old gold coffee filter and cut a piece of the screen out and melded it to the "hole" on the inside using a CLEAN low heat solder iron (15 amp and NO solder, just using the heat). I'm not suggesting anyone else do it, just saying that is what I did, by forming a large enough piece of filter/screen, that if it fell off it couldn't be accidently drank. Then lightly melt the plastic while pressing the screen in place with the iron. Mine is for ever secured, and I will have to watch to make sure it doesn't clog. I bought this mug for when we are out fishing or day hiking as thermos are very heavy, I was thinking I could Dremel off the handle and nest it in my 24oz Stanley pot so my coffee will be piping hot made fresh on an alcohol or solid fuel light weight stove during break. I'm loving this mug so much for indoor use that I don't want to take the handle off, so I might get another one. It will fit if I take out the filter and put it upside down in the cup and still have room in the cup and pot for fuel or coffee grounds, creamer, egg and a small bag of oatmeal or grits for a wilderness breakfast and still be able to lock the lid on. Without the handle this cup will also nest inside the Ozark cup from Walmart but is taller. I would say the mug is too heavy for long backpacking trips unless this is your luxury item. 7.02 oz or 128gm with the handle still attached, but also, it's a coffee maker, mug, soup bowl etc. With my fix, this is perfect for me. It will never see a dishwasher nor a microwave because this thing holds in the heat and I don't want to ruin that. Believe me, I have a cupboard full of travel mugs that don't come even close to this one. This is sturdy made, hard to tip over and only leaks if you where to lie it on it's side or put it upside down, I'm happy and think it is worth the purchase. I will update if anything changes my mind and share that too.

Great value. Great coffee.
This makes an excellent cup of pressed coffee. For those who complained about grounds getting into the coffee, you've clearly never used a French press before. Yes a small amount of grounds will get into the coffee but it is mostly the over ground/powder-like coffee grinds. When using this press (or any press for that matter) you can get a better cup by A) grinding your own beans in a coarse grind and B) only adding enough water initially to cover the grounds. Once you have pressed this water out, then you can add hot water to the pressed beans or you can drink it straight (it is basically a shot of espresso at this point. Another important part is good pressed coffee is buying good, fresh beans. Crappy beans equals crappy coffee. :/I have been hand washing this mostly because I don't want a film or taste in the mug from dishwasher soap. Haven't noticed any water going into the space between the inner and outer insulated part of the mug as some users stated.Cup keeps coffee hot for quite a while even without the lid on. I've actually gotten in the habit of leaving the lid off so I can drink it sooner.I'd definitely buy this again. It's totally unfortunate it doesn't come in some more colors or I'd probably have them all.

Steaming hot coffee whenever I want it
Love the convenience of a french press that you can take with you. I feel like France really has it down when it comes to coffee. I have never been to France but I did date a girl from France when I was a much younger man. She was here on a work exchange program and I was just getting over a girl that broke my heart. I was empty and maybe looking to fill in that void and loneliness that always comes after you part ways with someone you once loved. And there she was, the young french girl that promised relief for an empty soul. There is a lurking notion deep in the logic part of the brain that says, "this is not right." But the heart speaks louder than the mind and is harder to ignore. The heart - The birth of all foolish decisions and yet also the birthplace life, and creativity, and sometimes even love itself. The fascination of a new exciting experience with a new exciting person. Drawn like a child to a colorful picture book, I pursued her. And in the end, more heartbreak. Yet we continue to pursue love, perhaps often for the wrong reasons. And sometimes we force love, like the freshly ground coffee beans forced through steaming hot water to produce a purely satisfying cup of morning java.

Warning: does NOT hold 12oz of drinkable coffee!
I'm still deciding if I'm going to keep this, but initial reaction - not super great. I chose this one because it SAYS it can hold 12oz - apparently, that means 12oz total, not 12oz of drinkable coffee. In order to make a decent cup using a french press, the teaspoons of coffee to oz of water ratio is basically 1:1; but if you put 12 tsp of grounds in this mug, you can only fit about 8oz of coffee (assuming you still want to be able to depress the plunger, which you should, obviously). I've made about a cup and a half in it so far and honestly, not super thrilled :/ I do like that it's dishwasher safe, but it's not microwave safe (if you're the type to re-heat your coffee), which seems like a pretty basic 'want' to meet, but I don't know. I guess you get what you pay for with this one. We'll see if I end up keeping this or not...

Perfect cup of coffee
I use this mostly when I am travelling which is most of the time. This makes your life so easy, especially if you like coffee and a good one. Easy to use, clean and carry. It’s not leak proof neither does it keep the coffee hot for long. It’s to carry but not to keep for long. It makes perfect French press. I love it. You should take it if you travel a lot and don’t wan to spend and still have A good cup of coffee. I have been using this since two years and never had a complain. Make sure you have old coffee grounds, that makes all the difference.

Perfect for traveling if you need good coffee to start your day!
Traveling coast-to-coast by train, my wife and I had an incredible experience... the one and only drawback (aside from not being able to reserve your specific seats in advance) was that none of the trains offer any coffee but drip. For big caffeine addicts like us, this was not a compromise we were willing to make and with bringing our espresso machine from home, or even a travel espresso machine with all the set-up and coveted space required to ues one on board a train, French Press was the obvious option. However, we needed something small as we were trying to travel as light as possible, and something that could take a decent beating, as we were planning on attaching our mugs to the outside of our backpacks. Well, this little travel French Press mug did the trick expertly! It delivered great coffee every morning on the tracks, didn't take up much space at all, and was able to take a serious pummelling attached to the outside of our bags for a month. The only word of advice we'd give is that you need to be patient when pressing, go slowly, make sure you take the time to press it in evenly (so as not to put too much pressure on the handle side, less you have a hankering for chewing on your grinds), and of course, make sure you buy coarse ground beans, but that should go without saying. We highly recomend these little durable mugs!

So much easier for real coffee
Such a simple design yet gives me so much pleasure. I love coffee and I like nothing more than fresh coffee. I'm not a great fan of instant coffee but with this cup, coffee is so much more enjoyable to drink.I mainly buy pre-ground coffee and use that but I can also buy coffee beans, run them through the blender, store in an airtight container and use as required. With a cafetiere it's hard to make just the right amount of coffee but this makes just one cup. Easily. Just put your coffee into the cup, add any sugar and pour in the hot water in half way and stir. Insert the plunger/mesh thing and push down to the water level and top up with hot water, leave it a bit and push down the rest of the way and drink.Mother came to stay, loved it so much I bought this one for her and she phoned me up to say how much she loves it.If you're a coffee lover and want just one cup with no mess, get one. Now.
