Not too informational
These are basic things most parents already know. I am not finding too many insightful tips or ideas, but it was an interesting read all the same.

Two Stars
Really good suggestions but way to much talk. This book could have been 1/2 the size.

Amazing! Very Helpful!!
This book is absolutely amazing, really puts parents back in control and helps stop the downward spiral of disrespect. It really feels like there is something parents can do.

great chapters
I have an 8 year granddaughter with an attitude and felt this book might offer ideas on handling some situations. I read out loud to her and her 6 year old sister and they really pay attention. As I will be watching them this summer, I will bring the book back and forth from their house to ours so we will continue working on things.

Not Just Good For Dealing With Kids
I don't have kids, so I admit, it might seem a little strange that I would be interested in a book dealing with kids' bad attitudes. But I saw this at the library, and picked it up out of curiousity. Believe it or not, I found some good solutions for dealing with people in general with bad attitudes - like coworkers. People in offices often ACT like children. The chapter on bossy, domineering kids could be applied to coworkers like that -and I've had plenty of them. There always seems to be a "bossy boots" in an office who appoints himself or herself as the "leader" of a project, without any real authority to do so - like an actual supervisor has. That chapter has good ideas for that situation. And this is good for dealing with other peoples' kids with bad attitudes - like when your friends' kids decide to act up. You don't want to take their parents' place, of course, but sometimes kids think they can use a bad attitude with you because you're not their parent. I don't let that happen anyway. But this book gives me even better ideas that I already had for dealing with this. So, this is good for more than it might seem at first. Interesting book.

Not Just For Teachers!
Hey teachers! Struggling with some of those same old attitudes that seem hard to change? Dr. Borba's book "Don't Give Me That Attitude" has practical, insightful strategies that can be implemented into the classroom today! This book is parent AND teacher friendly, child centered, and a positive approach to repeat behaviors that have exhausted all your efforts. You'll notice a change in students' attitudes immediately, and a more positive, encouraging atmosphere in your classroom. A must have resource for your classroom!

Not what I expected
I purchased this product to use to help with my high school students but I immediately sent it back when I looked inside to see it was not what I expected. The book is geared towards parents of small children. Not for the teacher or parent of children with older children with attitudes.

How to make parenting miserable
Hard-going to be honest. Over-prescriptive, to a clinical level. Lots of to dos and not-to-dos, and a lengthy tome at 418 pages! Very unrealistic, a turgid American style, and there were far too many detailed instructions and recommendations more appropriate to a clinical setting! e.g. some of them very specific e.g. get your young child a piggy-bank. I mean, I think that's a nice gesture, but when it becomes part of a "to do" list to encourage yet another area of development and expertise for your child, it becomes very turgid IMO. I'm sure the book is well-meaning but I think only the most insensitive of parents would find anything especially useful in there. And the constant analysis of every little thing I thought honestly takes the joy out of being a parent (and a child). Just my two cents worth.
