The back ring turns like a big chuck key and is tightened with torsion bars (orange handled bars seen in picture) inserted into the holes positioned around the chuck body and back ring **Q: Will this work on a psi penpal lathe?** A: I don't know the tpi for your lathe. However, you should be able to get an inexpensive thread adapter here if you need one. I needed one for my harbor freight lathe. The combination has worked great!! **Q: I have a "harbor freight" - lathe - model # 65345 8 x 10" 5 speed 1/2hp .. will this chuck fit my lathe? i believe it's 1" x 8 thread.** A: If it is 1” 8 TPI it will fit. Please double check the specs at Harbor Freight. It’s not the easiest to tighten to hold your work but it gets the job done and runs true. Chucks are one of the most expensive things to buy for a lathe and if you are just starting you can’t go wrong with this.
