Choose The Golden Book over all other versions, rumour ...
Choose The Golden Book over all other versions, rumour says it contains the words of the gold plates given to Moroni founder of the Mormons.

Excellent original Sankrit excerpts with English translation
An excellent book, great-looking cover, thick pages and good binding (although I can't tell how long it will last since I've owned it for only 3 months). It contains excerpts of select hymns of the Rig Veda and is not a comprehensive summary of all hymns. The book is divided into 3 parts. The first part is by A. Macdonell, forms the majority of the book and has a separate chapter of hymns on each Vedic deity. Each chapter begins with a description and origin of the deity followed by a selection of hymns dedicated to the deity. Each hymn is presented in original Sanskrit in both Devanagari and Roman scripts, followed by an English translation. There are chapters to Agni, Indra, Varuna, Savita, Vishnu, Visvedevas, Usha, etc. There are also a few chapters on non-deity hymns like Funeral, Gambler, Frogs, etc. Although most of the prominent hymns are presented, a few important ones are missing, like the Gayatri Mantra, Wedding hymn, River hymn, etc.The second part is by Max Muller and also has separate chapters of select hymns on each deity. However, no hymns are presented in original Sanskrit, only the English translations are given. The third part is by H. Oldenberg and is similar to the second part. Many of the hymns in the second and third parts are the same ones in the first part, the only difference being the different translations of the authors.Overall, a highly recommended book by three Vedic scholars to get a good flavor of the Rig Veda.

Not for true readers
Will be returning. Hiding beneath a gilded facade of illustration and color, this book is what mere snippets some academicians thought they could take for the whole work and their dull summaries of the beliefs (divided into sections, each begins with translators interpretations of a specific deity, group thereof, or specific topic, then giving maybe FOUR to TEN four line stanzas at most as very basic evidence for the translators opinion). If you think you can feel the full depth of appreciation for something such as the Bible through a Wikipedia article, this is for you. But if you’re the type of person who wants to read a primary text and develop your own thoughts, stay away from this product. Pictures below of section on creation. Overpriced and vague product description.

Amazing
Very good, the book is a great translation, made a little on the cheap side, but hey... you get what you pay for. the book speaks of the deities of the ancient indo-Europeans (Aryans) and how the effect current Hinduism. i recommend it to anybody who is Hindu or wants to learn more about Hinduism.

NOT the Vedas
This book is pretty terrible. I thought it would be the actual vedas but there is maybe 4 lines of English per page and I can’t imagine how much is left out of this book. If you’re looking for the actual vedas, this is NOT it.
