XXL Fire Starter

So after scraping away the protected substance on the rod and paint on the striker I gingerly tried it .. held the lanyard and rod.. and after I got the " knack " was amazingly able to generate healthy sparks more than 6 " from the tip several may I add at 1 go .. more practice and I was able to shoot and fire generous sparks with ease .. it was well made and packed in a cellophane sealed bag the curly lanyard is attached and solid. rod was scraped from 4 " down but can do more ( no need ). metal scraped supplied OK but ? well lase test of time ..have other carbide tools .. overall .... Nice so pleased.

Good quality and reasonably priced It has a nice paracord strap and a heavy duty rod can see this lasting a long time also excellent sparks emit from this making it easy to to light a fire very happy with this item and I would recommend anyone looking for one that this is worth purchasing

A brilliant firesteel. Very impressed with the quality, size and paracord 'handle'. Makes massive sparks once black surface coating is scraped away.

The good: The rod itself, nice, large and not as easy to 'misplace' as the smaller ones I normally use. The 'meh': The striker, as other reviewers have noted, isn't very good and it's deficiencies may lead to the impression that the rod itself is a dud. The striker as supplied with my rod had a 'sweet spot' of approximately 1cm which reliably worked, to improve this I sanded off the black paint/coating along both sides of the striking edge to expose the bare metal, then filed the the length of the edge itself a couple of times, now it strikes every time along it's full length. Of course you can always use the back of your knife or folding saw as a striker as well, out of all the things I tested it with the back of the blade on my Stihl PR16 folding saw produced an insane

I must admit, after reading a few of the reviews, I did have a few doubts - until I received mine. Even as a "beginner" and before I had even got all the coating off, this fire starter was throwing some great sparks. Tested and it works beautifully! Sturdy/great size so its not fiddly to use. Great piece of kit which I am happy to recommend.

I’ve been using the Ember Rock XXL Firesteel and I’m impressed with how reliable it is. The ferro rod is big and solid, which makes it easier to use and ensures a lot of sparks every strike. The scraper works well, and the paracord lanyard is a nice touch for carrying it around. It feels durable and should last a long time, making it a great tool for camping, hiking, or emergency kits. Overall, a simple but very effective survival essential.

Great a proper big ferro rod with a nice bit of Paracocord and a striker. Have bought a couple in the past that stated large but failed to impress this one however is perfect well almost. I may change the green Paracocord for some that is a brighter colour so as not to loose it if I drop it while In the woods. Though because of the size of this less likely to loose in the first place. Haven't tried to light anything with it yet but if it sparks as well as it looks I will have found what I'm looking in a ferro rod. Good luck to the fledgling company who supplied this and if this performs as well as it looks I will be looking at more of your bushcraft products.

Arrived in perfect condition and on time ,the ideal fire making tool ,easy to use and extremely effective ,great value I thought and it's large size means a good grip for plenty of sparks .

Quelli che scrivono che non funziona è perchè non sanno usarlo. Appena arrivato ho voluto provarlo immediatamente, ho preso un pezzetto di carta dell'imballaggio amazon, ho aggiunto due rametti secchi di siepe, ho grattato la vernice superficiale e già in questa fase si vedeva qualche scintilla. Ho grattato un po' di metallo sulla carta e poi con un colpetto più forte ho sviluppato le scintille. Dopo due o tre tentativi ho visto una piccola brace, ho sollevato la carta, soffiato un poco e voilà, un bel fuocherello. Mai usato prima, facilissimo anche per principianti. Non ho usato la parte coi dentini del raschietto, ho semplicemente usato il lato col righello perchè più comodo da impugnare. Con più calma proverò col lato posteriore della lama del mio coltello, scommetto che funziona anche meglio. OTTIMO prodotto, consigliatissimo.
