Most are merely plug adapters and not true converters. And of course the vast majority are all simply generically-branded so they are hard to research and have virtually no driver support. This becomes even more of a challenge if you are wanting to use this on a macOS. After quite a bit of research I concluded that this particular unit would indeed work on a Mac. Since there are few brand names I mostly had to go by the picture, and the long (2-inch) thick part on the USB end was indicative of this being an actual converter which is what I needed to get my IBM Model M working on my Macbook. Sometimes it does glitch out and I have to tap the ALT key (mapped to the mac command-key) a few times, but this is pretty rare. TIP: For my 20+ year old Model M keyboard I remapped ALT to command, CTRL to option, and CAPS LOCK to control (very rarely used by anything on the mac), as well as PAUSE and SCROLL LOCK to be brightness down and up. This was much cheaper than buying a modern Mac-compatible Model M-style clicky keyboard from Unicomp ($120+) and I would definitely recommend this adapter over all other generic-branded ones. For PC/Windows users, you could definitely get away with a cheaper-made adapter, but for the price I would get this real converter and know that you have something that will be useful on a variety of computers. I had a couple non-brand and a logitech USB-PS2 adapter, and none of them worked at all for macOS.
