Most inexpensive Japanese extra fine nib !
The platinum preppy is the entry level pen of the Japanese brand platinum. The pen comes in three nib sizes 05 (0.5 mm) or medium , 03(0.3mm) or fine and 02 (0.2 mm) or extra fine. The extra fine nib size is exclusive to the preppy fountain pen. The fine and medium nib gauge with the same grip section is available in their prefounte (Rs850) and plasir (Rs1200 approximately). Thus, the preppy itself has a lot more value than you think.I noticed that the new preppy 02 has a thicker lime with than compared to it's previous version. This is mainly because of the pen being ground and smoothened out a little more ( ever tried to smooth out a medium nib that suddenly started writing like a broad butbecame a lot more smoother, yeah same concept.) I certainly don't mind it as the nib is still very fine. The build quality of the pen is good but it's obviously not as durable as a Lamy Safari which is constructed with ABS ( Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) plastic which is the same form of astic to make Lego toys( very durable). So it is recommended that you use it less roughly. The pen holds around 4.33 ml when eye droppered ( filling the whole barrel of the body with fountain pen friendly ink).In the cartridge (already comes with one cartridge) holds around 1.43ml.The weight of the pen overall is around 13g empty and 13.7g with ink ( please note ink with shimmer or any form of particle increases the weight slightly). The cap weighs around 4g and when it is unposted it weighs around 9g when empty and around 9.7 g when filled with ink. Overall very light pen.I would personally discourage the use of ink with any sort of particle like shimmer or pigment as the pigment particles may clog the tines of nib and result in poor inkflow. The pen writes very smoothly with a moderately wet inkflow. The nib is properly tuned but kindly use a very gentle touch while writing with the pen as the tines might spread and might result in stratchy writing( this is a Japanese extra fine nib so less pressure when writing is highly recommended). If you are a beginner I would recommend you to not tune the nib as you might just remove or damage the tiny tip of the nib when you are writing with it on micromesh or mylar sheet. If you do receive a startchy nib then use a 10x or 20x loupe or any sort of magnification to check the tine alingment and fix it.Kindly use ink with a moderate-wet flow like diamine, Platinum Carbon ink, Noodlers, Private Reserve ink. The use of dryer inks like Pelikan 4001 or Parker Quink is not recommended as it will deliver a very conservative inkflow with a very high amount of feedback. Paper with less texture is also recommended like Rhodia, Tomoe River Paper or if you are on a budget even Classmate paper with less texture will deliver a presurable writing experience. For Rs550 this is one of the most budget friendly Japanese extra fine nib available in the Indian market.Overall a very good purchase.

Extremely fine pen..worth the price
Very fine pen. Purchased it to use with Platinum carbon ink..compared with my Brustro 0.05 fine liner...It is a little thicker than 0.05 fineliner, but it serves my purpose..Reverse of EF is extremely fine , but very scratchy...can use it for very fine lines..Pen is very very light even with the cap posted..I haven't tried kanwrite EEF nib so can't compare with it

Value for money!
Bought an extra fine preppy. It's very light weight, keep that in mind. If you have used some fountain pen with metallic body, and like it that way, this one will not work for you. The plastic material of the barrel also feels cheap and looks like it will break into pieces with one good fall.I've added the photo of a news I copied using preppy. You can see that the ink is clear with no smudge. Writing part seems good, and for this rate, getting an extra fine nib fountain pen from another reputed brand is going to be difficult (I've searched a lot).

A good fine writing pen
I bought this pen for the first time and i m very happy with it..people who use hero, jinhao and bauer make fountain pens should try it..they'll love it! I bought EF (02) black and it is really a fine writer. The smoothness is almost at par with a good used old hero pen. And the best part- well you open the cap and just start..the nib does not dry!

Very Happy with it!
Was looking for 0.2 nib. Finally got it.Smooth writing. But as all ink pens the nib needs cleaning once a week to clean the residue for a smooth writing.

Budget pen.
Thin line, but not distinct. Black color turns grey. But it can write on any kind of paper. Ideal for those whose handwriting is small like me.

the pen writes thinly
it writes dots easily unlike rollarballs; the pen is slender and matches size with brand printed on pen unlike previous models i think

High performance at a low price!
I noticed that an artist I follow used one of these to great effect and was amazed when I found them here and that this pen is one of the lowest priced fountain pens I’ve seen! This pen is very simple in its design and very lightweight. You’d almost think it’s a disposable, but it’s actually refillable and a really great pen.The model I’m reviewing is the extra fine “02” pen. The nib is perfect for drawing, I prefer a slightly thicker line for writing, but this pen is so nice to use that if I only had one pen for an everyday carry, this would be (and is) it. Despite this being super inexpensive, the manufacturing quality is excellent. The line quality is also excellent and this nib is fine enough to write on more absorptive paper prone to bleed-through. The ink cartridge is simple to replace and this fountain pen is as quick and easy to use as any modern Gel, felt-tip, Ball or Ballpoint pen one would use in the course of daily life. Throw it in a drawer for a few months, pull it out and it will immediately begin to write without any coaxing. The cap has a spring loaded air-tight seal and the nib will not dry out; apparently, even after a year. This is a pen anyone would enjoy using and if it turned out that it just wasn’t a good fit for you, this $7 pen would be a super cool gift to give to a friend or coworker. Two things to be aware of:1) The pen is essentially a lightweight plastic tube. If you had it in a back pocket and sat on it, or are prone to dropping pens on hard flooring, this pen or its cap could break.2) The barrel of the pen, cap and grip area are all completely round. This will be a plus for many people, but I personally tend to “roll” the pen over time and have to re-adjust my grip with a perfectly round pen. A very, very minor issue that likely won’t bother most people.

Una penna semplice, materiali economici ma estremamente funzionale. Scrive bene, non si impunta, non salta, pennino EF giapponese. Da avere assolutamente in collezione ed in tasca.
