Great Quality!
The way these storm door handles are made these days, you would be lucky to get a metal slide shaft to push the indoor handle mechanism to unlock the door. The most of them are made of plastic or cheap "pot-metal", which bends under light loads. This one is perfect. Solid aluminum body and handles, locking lever, and post. All the screws needed for any clearance needs and shims to make the install complete and functional. If your new to these and unsure, you can't go wrong on this one, it will get the job done right, within minutes and with satisfaction. You can't go wrong, especially for the price. The similar or higher priced ones give you plastic parts and cheap metal, so this one can't be beat. Cheers!

Great replacement handle!
I had a 30 year old handle on the screen door to my back porch that did not lock plus the latch mechanism in the old one simply fell out. I used this product as the replacement. The only real problem I had with the installation was with the flat metal part that turns the latch mechanism. The instructions said to just use a score line to snap off a piece of the bar if you needed it to be shorter. It would not snap off at all, so I use my Dremel to cut it off. While the part on the door frame that the latch catches on was fine, it being 30 years old it was a different design, so I did have to replace that. I already had more robust larger diameter screws to hold the old one in place, so I had to drill out larger hoes in the new part and that worked out perfectly and there is no play in the latch.Overall, I like the value for the money, the construction of the product is very good, and the black handle looks great.Do I recommend this? Yes, I do. In fact, after replacing the one at the rear of the house and being satisfied with the product, I ordered a second one from Amazon for the front screen door, too.

Forced to use the ding dong option
Very nice. I can lock my storm door again....it was annoying when neighbors would walk up and open my storm door and knock on my front door. Hey, use the doorbell yo! Haha

WTF?
This lock DOES NOT WORK if you want to lock and leave thru the door it's on. The lock only works if you lock it from the inside so what good is a key lock that you can't leave??? I bought 2 and neither lock works properly. I went back and read the info again and it says nothing about the lock only working from the inside. I know I put them together properly (retired engineer). At this point I'm just keeping them since I needed 2 handles and I'm not going thru returning them to get 2 regular handles THAT ALSO LOCK FROM THE INSIDE, DUH!!!!

The second one worked
I initially replaced an old lock that stopped latching the door when closing the door from the outside. The first replacement lock wouldn't stay locked. I ordered a second lock to see if it was just a problem with the first one. Unfortunately, the second lock had a different issue. I noticed that when I tightened the screws, the striker would retract, preventing the lock from latching, locking, or unlocking.I realized I needed to shorten the metal rod connecting the door handle to the latch inside. However, I struggled to break off a piece that was only 1/8 inch long. I tried using a vice and two pairs of pliers, but it didn't work.Eventually, I used the clear plastic spacers from the kit to create a gap between the latch and the door. That extra 1/16 inch was just enough to keep the striker in place. Now, the door locks and unlocks appropriately.

Works as advertised
Seems to be a good quality handle and lock. It fit perfectly to my door by following the instructions.
