Wonderchef Granite Wok with lid 24cm

Thrilled to bits with this wok and use it regularly. So easy to clean and useful to have a lid

Between June 2020 and July 2022 I bought 6 24cm woks, saute pans and frying pans misdescribed as deep pans or woks on the Amazon website. They were all non-stick. The best of these surfaces lasted no more than 9 months. The first Judge JOM20B was such. The second lasted 2 to 3 weeks before the handle came loose. This was screwed tight but came loose in no time repeatedly. Had to find some heat resistant glue to hold the handle. A grey colour handle Deco Express “Wok” (mis-described had handle which lasted as long as the cooking surface, i.e. 9 months. But the brown colour handle Deco Express came loose inside 2 weeks. This was glued but came loose; glued again then came loose again.Of these 6 woks and pans, the only one which has a good enough secured handle is Motase but is no longer available on Amazon. The non-stick surface is beginning to stick after 4 month, therefore had to find a replacement before it totally becomes useless. By the way, I do not abuse cookware. Knowing it is not recommended to use high heat with non-stick, The induction settings I use on the VonChef Induction Cooker is always 1000W and 100 degrees. Once the food is cooked, I turn it down to 800 and 80 respectively for simmering. These are the lowest settings possible.Now is March 2023. Decided on Wonderchef Granite Wok 24cm.Initial impression was good. Says it’s made in India; jolly good as it is not made in China, “P.R.C.” (Peoples Republic of). It came with a well fitting lid. It is a true wok not just a pan with deeper sides. It feels like the Judge model mentioned above but the base is proper induction base not a painted bottom like the Judge. However, that’s all the good points already ticked off.Before first use had to tighten the handle of the lid. It came loose during first cooking so had to screw tight again. The handle came loose during the last moments of first cooking.After three and half years concluded that none of the sub £30 woks is any good. From now on I shall have to substitute with saute pans with a minimum of two rivets holding the handle because one screw is just useless. Manufacturers have cost cut just too far because surely they must know people shake and toss the wok during stir frying. On average I shake and toss for 5 seconds of time 4 times each cooking session of half hour and I use the cookware for 5 times a week. This is hardly excessive. Secondly I use either plastic or wooden spoon to stir more often than toss the pan. Well disappointed so it’s going back for refund.

Well, here I am writing this review after using the product for 3 years and a month.Wonderchef granite wok with lid is a great cookware to have in your kitchen. The look is nice with the granite finish. Quality wise it is really good. Weight of both the wok and lid is little heavy. I guess that makes it more durable.As I love cooking, I liked to have a new kind of cookware in the kitchen. Ever since I bought it, I have cooked Noodles, Chicken, Aloo Ki Subzi, Egg Curry, Kofta Curry, Paneer dishes etc. It is suitable for every kind of cuisine one wants to cook. The glass lid serves it purpose i.e. you can watch it while cooking your food. The capacity is good enough to cook for a family of 4 - 6 members.Cleaning of the wok is convenient, as the food doesn't sticks to the bottom.I got this in Rs 1,499. Overall, I am happy with my purchase.

Superb is the word for it. I have never experienced such a good finish in a pan. I purchased this granite finish pan being inspired from all the cooking videos on youtube. The diff between a normal nonstick and a granite coating is normal nonstick has 3 layers of coating, which actually wears off in 8 months time, whereas granite coating is 5 later coating. You don't feel the plasticy feeling at all while touching it. The handle is such a good velvet finish and perfect grip to hold. The pan is not that heavy weight too. Even the lid has a perfect hook like handle to hold and lift it. Ergonomically, it's very well designed. The color is also something looks stunning for a new modern kitchen. Every penny worth. The size is perfect to make sabzi for 5 people. I have also used it for frying and it's amazing. Also, when you season it, the mustard seeds don't go crazy bouncing like any other steel pans, so when you pour the daal, the oil doesn't jump out on your face. It's perfect for everyday use. Very very useful.
