Freez Pak, Reusable Ice Pack, Mini

Small frozen frozen in the freezer for when I put in my lunch bag the small cooler keeps it cold and my meal is ready for when I eat it.

As the lead reviewer of this item says, what matters most for a freezer pack is volume, shape and durability. I bought this via a friend with Amazon Prime July 2016 for under $10.00 to replace a thin-skinned Nordic Ice Pack that leaked just like all the thin-skinned gel packs do sooner rather than later. I also had two ancient gel packs over a decade old that I use once-a-week for trips to Costco and so hesitated to buy this one because of customer complaints about the pack developing bumps or thinned plastic when frozen. So I looked to see what brand my ancient packs were and they were Lifoam. I cannot guarantee that there are not quality control issues, but the one I got is solid well made hard plastic that does not warp, bend, distort, etc. and with its brothers keeps the food very cold for a very long time. (And if you do get a bad one from Amazon, just return it.) See photos.July 29 Note: Upon closer inspection, I do see a small "bump" in the plastic, but it has an benign explanation. When the gel freezes it crystallizes and expands. It freezes from the outside in, and from the bottom (that touches the refrigerator freezer bottom) up. This would lead to a pretty large bulge as all the remaining liquid is forced to the center top and put under pressure by the expanding crystal gel. To prevent this, Lifoam builds a plug hole into the center of the its larger packs drilled in from both directions. This has the effect of distributing the last liquid just before it freezes evenly around the hole, making a small but harmless bulge.

I never use ice and I've have become accustomed to using these Ice packs. We go to the beach with bottled drinks surrounded by the pack and they keep our beverages cold even when sitting in hot beach sand with the sun beating down. I love em.

I measured my coolers before I ordered, so these are just about perfect size wise.They seem to stay cold for quite a long while, I didn't actually time it but several hours.The only disappointment is that, when I froze them, the seemed to develop a bulge near the center. Once this happens, since they are no longer flat, they of course don't lay flat in the cooler. I tried freezing them lying flat, and standing on edge, and it did not seem to matter. Not a show stopper but my other, older freezer packs don't do this. I can live with it but would have much preferred that they remained flat. I took off one star just because of this.Otherwise, they are a nice big size so I can cover the entire bottom of the cooler with either one or two of them (depending on which cooler I use).

Great product that you cannot find in stores. I use it to keep my squeeze bottles of mustard and ketchup cold on my hot dog cart. Wish they would make one a little wider/taller to fit the height of my squeeze bottles. My mother still has hers from when I was little. Lasts a long time and had many of uses over time.
