This book is awesome!
First, I want to thank Amazon for getting this book to me very quickly!I have learned so much from this one book about billing and coding. If you are intimidated or have many questions about the basics of billing and coding this book is for you. I bought it just to make sure that it was what I really wanted to do as a career. It really helped not only to explain what I will be doing in a variety of settings (such as a hospital, private physician's office, insurance company, clearinghouse, etc.) but it also listed tips for each one and how to survive an audit once you are already working in the field. It talks about how to handle problems that you may encounter with filing a claim, ethics, and disputes & appeals. This book breaks down the different certifications and how to get them and details about the different associations that you should join (depending on what you want to specialize in). It talks about what initial courses you should take and everything about where you can get continuing education credits (CEU's).I really cannot say enough about this book. I really would recommend this book to anyone who is considering becoming a medical biller &/or coder and wants to know the "ins" and "outs" of it.

Medical coding rates my 5 stars for presentation, content, style, and foundational information, and easy to read. A MUST read.
Medical Coding arrived in perfect condition. Thank you. I highly recommend this book for anyone that is in, or going into that field. This book rates a 5 star rating because it is wonderful in the presentation of facts and layout plus it is an awesome teaching for laying the a foundation of understanding and the reasons why, including the differences and comparison from coding to billing. I cannot praise this book highly enough. It is quite the confidence builder, and will fill in the myriad of holes and questions we might have for our chosen careers. This book goes into great detail about the materials that any school just cannot cover and does not have the space or the time to discuss the book's contents. A MUST reading for future [email protected]

Medical Coding
I now understand the involvement that a person must go through inorder to be a Medical Billing & Coding professional but the book was not what I expected. I didn't realize that inorder to understand Medical Billing & Coding one had to go back to school inorder to be able to be certified to do this work. I was looking to get a quick overview of the coding to get a better understanding of my own medical statements but a person really must be schooled on this to be able to do the job. The book was written very well but I now need to decide if I want to go back to school to start a third career, as I'm in my seventies.

Better than I thought it would be
There are courses for learning medical billing and coding but I don't know if there is a course for what this book offers. It gives the behind the scenes information on finding employment, options on certifications, and a whole lot more extremely useful hands on information of how to go about becoming a successful billing and coder. So, while I'm taking my academic courses, I'll have this book as a guide of how to use what I learn. I definitely recommend this book.

It wasn't what I expected
You can get most of all the information that is given in the book over the internet. I am a big google person and I found that I knew almost everything. There is no extra practice or help tips or hint to get your through a stuggling point when you are studying.

GARBAGE through and through
This is a 300 page book titled "Medical Billing and Coding" that literally does not discuss even one specific code or code example, The book should be called "Getting a JOB in medical billing and coding" because that is all it actually covers. In that regard it might be useful---I don't know because it wasn't at all useful to me.

I feel like I was led astray =(
The book has NOTHING on the codes used. I thought there would surely be a list of these Medical Codes, but there were none. Not quite what I expected.I feel like I was led astray =(
