As advertised
It works! Honestly I don't have much use for it other than a way to get data onto a device that doesn't allow USB storage or network connections or as a mouse jiggler, but it's fun! I configured it entirely through the guidance of Claude Code: it told me what packages to install (Arduino is required, the CLI works fine) and wrote a payload that worked flawlessly. This is a pretty well documented board and you should be able to find what you need with some simple googling, though Claude Code makes it trivial to get up and running quickly!

Perfect
I have zero complaints about this product. I personally had some trouble reprogramming it in C++, but that was on my end—not the device itself. The build quality is excellent; it’s fully metal and feels solid and well-made. It does come preloaded with a simple script that opens Command Prompt, but it doesn’t type any commands, inject anything, or do anything malicious. Just a basic demo script. Overall, it works as advertised and feels like a quality product.

Perfect little packaged microcontroller
Bought this to use with Control mapper on SimHub and it works perfectly! Love that it comes bundled in a ready to go flash drive. Like others said it does open the command prompt when first plugged in, but I believe this is just an example program preloaded on the USB. This product is named BadUsb, it's technically supposed to be used for nefarious purposes (e.g. you could program it to execute a script automatically when plugged in). Seems like they ship it with an example script that just opens the command prompt.

Compact and Capable for USB HID Projects, but Requires Programming Knowledge
I picked up the HiLetgo BadUSB Beetle mainly for small USB automation projects, and it works really well once you get it set up. It is super compact and easy to program through the Arduino IDE, recognized as an Arduino Micro, but you definitely need some basic experience with microcontrollers or HID scripts to use it properly. The board can emulate keyboard and mouse inputs, which is great for automation, but out of the box it may have a default payload loaded, so flashing your own code right away is a must. Build quality is decent for the price, though the USB connection feels a little loose, so you will want to secure it if you are using it long-term. Overall, it is a solid and affordable board for anyone comfortable with Arduino programming who wants a tiny, powerful HID device.

works.. but sketchy
first time I plugged in was to a Windows machine, as another review mentioned this is stupid. it immediately ran cmd. the command prompt had no command history so maybe it's just what these things do as default, just open cmd. anyway that's sketchy to me. other than that it's easily recognized and programmed with Arduino IDE. for the price I don't think you can beat this, you can make it yourself but where do you get a nice case like this? if I knew how to diy this for cheaper or same price I would. kind of right going in and out of the USB port not the greatest fit.

Great for Simhub Control Mapper
Using this in conjunction with Simhub as a control remapper and it's been flawless. Highly recommend for this niche use case.

Real fun!
Really funny to write software for. It actually works pretty well.. If you know what you do. However, even Windows is trying to beat these kind of keyboard emulators by making to harder to automate some processes (like becoming administrator). Nevertheless, it's a much have USB stick for the hobby hacker.

Works as intended
Well made product, a bit on the expensive side though saying you can get these for around £4.00 from some other sites.
