It just works
I bought this valve to recharge the fridge with refrigerant. This thing installed in minutes and has been working great. It has been two weeks and so far, no leaks. Saved me hundreds of dollars in repair bills and saved me from having to spend more than a thousand bucks for a new fridge.

Saving lives and time
Works great for my chest freezer. I can stack it full of food due to this wonderful gadget. Less grocery store trips, making food ahead of time and freezing it.

Worked great, but don't follow their instructions
This unit worked great to recharge an old refrigerator. However, do not follow the instructions or you will dump all of the refrigerant from the refrigerator. I work on car air conditioning systems, so I knew what I was doing and didn't have a problem.1) Be sure that the refrigerator is turned off. Attach the new adapter to the refrigerator on the low side line, but do not pierce the line yet!2) Connect your low-side hose (blue) from your set of gauges to the new adapter.3) Attach your refrigerant can to the common yellow hose on your gauges.4) Pierce the can of refrigerant and open that valve on the can. Place the can upside down, with the needle assembly facing down. This is done so you can get refrigerant into the lines for bleeding.5) Put on gloves and goggles. Bleed the yellow hose coming from the refrigerant can at the gauge assembly until refrigerant comes out. (crack open the connector slightly or press the bleeder shrader valve)6) Open up the low side shutoff knob on the gauge to let the refrigerant into the blue low-pressure hose.7) Bleed the blue hose at the new adapter by unscrewing the blue hose connector slightly until refrigerant comes out. Re-tighten the connector quickly after the refrigerant comes out.8) Close the low-side knob at the gauge assembly. This is done so you do not shoot an uncontrolled burst of liquid refrigerant into the refrigerator lines. Some will go in, but not enough to be a problem. Turn your refrigerant can upright now. This is done so you do not get too much liquid at the head of the compressor when you begin to recharge the refrigerator.9) Screw in the new adapter needle valve until it pierces the copper line and will not turn in any more. Back out that needle valve one turn. You will hear refrigerant enter the copper line.10) Turn on the refrigerator and let it run for about 5 minutes. Now read the gauge. If it is low on refrigerant, it will be 0 or negative. If it is between 3 to 5 psi, it is fine and does not need to be recharged. If it is really high, you have a serious problem.11) To add refrigerant, open the shut-off knob for the blue hose at the gauges briefly and then close it. Wait one minute and look at the pressure again. Do this until you are at 3 PSI. Do not put more than 5 psi , as that is a the upper limit. Always do this in short bursts or you will over-charge the system. It does not take much refrigerant.12) When done, tighten down the needle valve on the new adapter, close the needle valve on the refrigerant can, and then remove the blue line from the new adapter. Screw on the included cap that came with the adapter. Leave the refrigerant can on the gauge set because it will still have refrigerant that can be used for another project.

Worked perfect. Opened and closed it about 6 times
Worked perfect. Opened and closed it about 6 times, no leaking. This saved me a ton of money. My fridge wasn't cold. I checked that all the fans worked and condenser coils were cleaned. Still not cold. So with a leak suspected, I contacted a store I cant mention but it rhymes with beers. They had a guy come out (late) and he didn't even check the pressure of the refrigerant and said I needed a new compressor. I let him bail after the $999 quote after doing zero to find the problem. I bought this bullet piercing valve, hooked it up and sure enough it was way low in pressure, a vacuum in fact. Refilled slowly to specs and the refrigerator is better than its ever been since I bought the house. Now admittedly I have to find the slow leak that let this happen but it beats paying for a new compressor AND STILL having to find the leak that caused the problem. This simple gem lets us "uncertified" technicians save ourselves from being ripped off by the "professionals."

Out freaking standing!
These work really well, at first I was sceptical about the quality and durability but it took me less than 5 min to install the valve leak free. Just snug the bolts and don't overtighten and it works out nice, all the people posting it broke or it is low quality just rammed the bolts on due to lack of mechanical skills and then blamed it on the device. I installed the valve, evacuated the RV a/c, hooked up a vacuum pump for 15 minutes or so and refilled the refrigerant to 45-50 psi on the low side and it worked like new, the best method would be to sweat a valve on instead of using a piercing valve but since there was no sign or symptom of a pressure drop I felt comfortable leaving the valve attached since I have the equipment to refill as needed, I will end up buying a few for the toolbox for emergencies since it was so simple to accomplish.

NOT the part show in the picture
I was disappointed when I received the part. I was not the part described. I wish I had a photo of it, but I threw it out with the refrigerator. There was no separate piercing set screw. The piercing function was a part of the intake regulator mechanism. So there was no way to turn it on and off. The function seemed to be a part of the intake. But did not function very well.

Great product. Don't buy a new fridge, this was very easy to use.
Solid. Worked as advertised.Be careful you're tapping the right refrigerant line! I was helping a friend fix his fridge and I was SURE i had it right. I only caught myself at the very last minute when he asked me to explain how I knew it was the right one -- apparently, I didn't! Would have been a disaster.

Works
Used on my sealed RV AC unit with only one issue. Others have reported its hard to pierce the copper tube, saw no evidence of this. I would like a "kit" to include a R12 to R134 so that the popular Automotive refill kits can be used . R-12 to R-134a Retrofit Valve 7/16 Low Side Port Adapter with Blue Dust AC Cap Universal for Air Conditioning Systems
