The solid state relay that is listed has a 24V -200+ volt output switch for AC power. If you are using a DC (Battery) to supply the lights it won't work directly. Replacing the output relay with one that can handle 12 V will allow it to work. You could power the powersupply for the bulbs through this relay but the response will be delayed and your PID would be hard to program. **Q: Do I need to auto-tune after a power failure?** A: No, but if you want to you can. My kiln can with a dial so on medium it is about 1500 degrees. Doing enamel jewelry and paintings I need a more precise read. The thermostat that came with this is not made for such high temperatures. Solve that by using the original thermostat and hooking it up to the digital box. Now I can set the temperatures I need for each type of enamel I use.
