Not as advertised, pretty terrible presentation.
Alright, so the cards themselves are decently laid out and seem to have no problems in construction. That's it. That's basically the only positive.Skipping over the borderline false advertising on the description, you will find it contains "new and exciting critical hit effects" including "short term penalties, devastating wounds, spectacular executions and more." This is where they outright bend the truth to the point of a lie. Each card has a level of severity which, simply put, just increases the multitude of damage you do. Fine. Possibly could result in a dragon being dropped in a single turn, but whatever. I didn't buy these to care about damage multipliers, I bought them for the "devastating wounds" and mostly for the "spectacular executions" narrated through "exciting critical hit effects."Now, onto the card. Each card has (4) outcomes based on the damage type (1 each). Basically, the card tells you exactly what you did on your critical. Problem is, it is one or two words like "cheek slice." If ANYONE crits on a Nat20 and the DM says "you cut their cheek," your game is terribly unexciting and you should leave. A crit in DnD usually results in (12+) damage at level 1 and can get someone upwards of (50) damage at a modest level in one melee attack. If you cut someone's cheek when the average soldier has a health pool in the (20s), I again say you should leave the table immediately. There are no spectacular finishes, no devastating wounds, and this deck is the converse of a game developer just giving an enemy more health at a higher difficulty and calling it content, except both are terrible.Don't buy this, and be wary of their other products. I have Critical Fails on the way and am excited to see if they at least did that well.My advice for critical hits? If a player rolls one, ask what they are attacking on the creature. Let them roll a d4. Based on the result (severity 3-4) the DM then rolls a d4 and adds a debilitation to the creature. It would be worded like so for a character attacking the legs:You are clashing with this soldier, metal against metal. Seeing an opening in his armor, you lash out with your sword and manage to get through to the flesh underneath. As your sword cuts through, you hear him scream and show a look of agonizing pain in his eyes. He is now hobbled and has half (minimum based on player roll severity) movement speed for 1d4 turns (DM roll result).YOU'RE WELCOME.

Better than Pathfinder version!
I've been waiting for someone to release crit cards for 5e. These are great. Beware, the benefits are huge compared to the Pathfinder ones.

Great DM tool
Interesting context for games. My players dread these cards. Love it.

More of a novelty than a useful tool
These are ok, and semi useful. I purchased all three decks offered and found the effects to be largely overpowered or not useful at all, with little middle ground.Wouldn’t purchase again nor would I recommend to a friend.
