Serif WebPlus X5

I purchased WebPlus 4 about a year ago and recently upgraded to WebPlus 5. I have been building sites since 1997 in virtually all the popular web builders from simple Frontpage to more complex dreamweaver. I have also built sites in text editors doing straight HTML. Recently, I have used CMS to build sites (Joomla and Wordpress). I have found that webplus handles the complex building of sites and has wonderful graphics editing. This program is powerful and allows for easy organization of the site. It creates sitemaps and robot txt. I feel confident that almost any skill level will find this program easy to use and very powerful.I would recommend using the tutorial. There is a strong chance that you will jump right into building a site without using the tutorial. Doing this, you will likely build a good looking site but miss the great tools the system has built into it to make your site well constructed.The drawbacks are. HTML editing is very limited. I sometimes build the site in Webplus and then publish to a folder to clean up the HTML in a text editor prior to publishing. This is a good work around for the limited HTML editing.The ftp publishing is simple and limiting but you can backup your entire 'site file' on the server. Which is helpful in the event your desktop fails. I do have to use other ftp tools to actually move folders and create directories on my server.The graphic editing in webplus is amazing compared to comparably priced graphics programs.Webplus 5 added 'lightboxes' and additional galleries and styles. They look great! You can select from a multitude of shopping cart links.I would feel very confident in recommending webplus to anyone looking for a inexpensive, easy to use very powerful web building tool.

I thought I was paying $20 for last year's product. Not true!Your $20 really buys a catalog. There is hardly anything for free, and nothing you would want. Hundreds of pieces and parts of a web design program (and it doesn't look like a very good one) are all for sale. To get what you would need it will cost you hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. This is a UK product that doesn't even make a US/Canadian version. The installation program put a half-dozen programs on my computer that I am going to have to work like crazy to get off.Buying this product is like paying for spam and viruses. DO NOT TAKE THE CHANCE!! Amazon should not carry any products from this company!

This software program is all it states and much, much more. The customer services reps, techs and registration folks at Serif are A - #1. Though located in Great Briton they have a local USA 800 number that gets you a real person ASAP. Anyways, I'm using this program to design our ministries web site and I am more than impressed with the many functions as well as with the help guide, the tutorials, written and video as well as the book it comes with. You might think that's a bit of over kill or it must be a complicated program to use. But it is not. It is all useful and easy to understand practical information. And if you do run into a problem, their techs and customer support are ready to help you through whatever it is you need help with. My final word, is it's worth every penny and I have decided to get several other programs that the company offers. So happy web building, just make sure you bring your imagination along for the ride. You'll need it...

FIRST OF ALL, I would like to know if anyone knows how to get a hold of AMAZON, I WANT TO HAVE THEIR "POPUP'S" DISABLED, Their starting to (P***) me off, I don't like to use bad language, has someone resolved the problem, if so, contact me and give me the directions, it would sure be appreciated. IF THE POPUP'S CANNOT BE DISABLED OR IF AMAZON WILL NOT DISABLE THEY " THEY MAY LOOSE A HIGH VOLUME CUSTOMER" "ME"...I hear good reviews about Amazon, so we'll see what happens.The web software is approachable and somewhat easy to get around, but, first of all, print out the instructions and/or read the instructions, they can be of help, just make sure you back up @ different times and save it to different drives, just in case!Thanks for listening and Good Luck.

I bought this product because of it's description. I got it in a timely manner and started working with it. It is relatively easy. The problem comes with registration. According to the manufacturer, it is outdated and no longer comes with support or hosting, as it does not work on todays internet. They said the coding is so old, no one would be able to see the website.

WebPlus X5, like other versions of WebPlus, expects the user to begin with a template.BAD: Templates are included, but their is no index to the templates - or even broad categories like ‘retail’, ‘nonprofit’, ‘service firms’, and ‘auto dealers’. Templates have “text” that is without reason(random letters); Serif misses a chance to teach. The claim is WebPlus is better than the free popular WordPress, but it does not include a instructiions to replace a WordPress site with WebPlus. WebPlus X5 does not live up to the hype. My recommendation is only for experienced web designers, but they are probably well established with a different application.GOOD:It will do what it claims with effort, Text and images are truly drag&drop, It includes fonts and graphics that can be personalized. I am able to use it with my 32bit Vista computer. FEATURE RICH application to be sure.Sincerely, roweazmike

This is an old version and does not include the 6 month Web Hosting as promised..! Do not buy it for that reason!

Basically, I know nothing about website design...coding is a mystery to me. So why did I buy this amazing product? Ever fantisised about having your own website? I have, so I thought..Wouldn't it be great to design a website to go along with my idea?! After searching the web for easy to use products, this one drew me to it. Serif have been clever enough to take the complicated art of web design and make it simple and easy for anyone to use! First, I downloaded the free sample from serif but after that I was hooked and had to buy the whole package!! Naturally as with all my products I turned to amazon and found the package at an amazing price. The reason its so easy to use that even I can do it is to do with the 'click and drag' aspect. You literally pick what you want, click and there you have it, You only need adjust the sizing. Its all there, everything you need to make your own site. They even give you templates that you can adjust if you don't want to start from scratch! You can even set up a secure payment system...plus, when your finished you can actually publish to the web using this software too! Serif have added in hosting packages so you have all you could possibly need. Its easy, fun to use and wont blow your budget...I'd recommend it to anyone who dreams of having their own website but don't know where to start.

I had hoped for better having previously used Movieplusx3 & other Serif programs, yet sadly this particular one (Webplus x5) did not even work! I received my copy which arrived more or less on time but that's where any inkling of satisfaction ended...On removing the program disc & loading it I was greeted with sounds akin to something like 'sawing' in my drive & after 7 attempts to install the program (it rolled back & died on each occasion) I finally gave up.Trying to get help from serif is a daunting prospect on a week-day but on a weekend.... Well let's just say forget it? I left a ticket for an email back but still waiting & waiting. If its a dud disc then I shall maybe try again but overall very disappointed with the low quality of product offered to me, will possibly try again with a replacement. Maybe serif should review their quality control?Also the useless trialware (some vaguely relevant bulk Email program HIGH IMPACT) disc which accompanies this is pretty much a 30 trial in disgusie (typical American gig 'oh yeah try this wonderful program free' mines all your personal data including your email account details before you find out its just a ltd trial version right at the end & probably not even worth the hundreds of $$$s being demanded for a full working version!!)Value for money (hypothetically) 9/10Concept & service 4/10Satisfaction 1/10Overall so far 2/10

Frontpage is no more, so I tried Microsoft Expression, wasn't keen on that and after a few times the copy I had failed to work, so I looked around for something else.First of all I could'nt load it and contacted customer support who were very useful and they told me to disable a few things, so I did and after several hours finally I installed it.Anyway its quite good, publishing is easy, you can add youtube videos very easy, so I am finding it quite good, there's still alot I have'nt looked at.The price is good compared to other's out there, I'm pleased I purchased it anyway.

Having used a previous version, I was somewhat surprised to find few changes. I actually bought this (as it's cheap) to see if I could set a few things straight on a site I already have. Thought maybe that I could adjust a few niggling things, couldn't do this as couldn't get to grips with this programme at-all. I understand HTML , forms etc. but this prog does not make anything easy except creating a basic (& basic looking site). As not all the bells & whistles are always free, & it's a bit limiting (unlessI guess you really get in to it, which most people wo'nt I wouldn't have thought) I actually uninstalled it & fixed everthing in notepad (& a few hours). We have Dreamweaver, but I'm not a guru with it, so I went back to basics to fix it as a text file, & hence bi-passed this prog.Over-all good to write a Website quickly, & you can improve it later, at a quick glance I thought it looked like you have to pay / subsribe for stuff that at first glance seems free, not 100% sure on this though, as I'd already decided to remove it from the system.
