Get the book - not the Kindle version
It was my mistake to buy the Kindle version of this book. The book itself is great - but... I am not happy with the Kindle version. The photos are simply too small in Kindle Fire. I bought the hard copy (book) of A PocketExpert Guide to Marine Invertebrates: 500+ Essential-to-Know Aquarium Species and I am entirely happy with it."Banana Wrasse" specimen in this book differs from banana wrasse in What Fish? A Buyer's Guide to Reef Fish Well, the Latin name is different too. What Fish? A Buyer's Guide to Reef Fish says that banana wrasse can sleep by digging/hiding under fine sand and it is quite small fish. I guess there are two types of banana wrasse.Overall, this is a good book.

Awesome info, but some picture quality issues... still a buy for me
4 out of 5 stars because of the picture quality issue mentioned in other reviews. It is not ALL pictures being poor quality, and actually fairly few, but the publisher should still have better quality control, and as others have pointed out, a major purpose of this book is for visual identification.Aside from that, I feel the information is invaluable and the "compatibility" key for the various co-inhabitants in a reef style aquarium is pure awesome. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to have a reef style tank setup.

Excellent guide to reef fishes
I always refer to this either when I'm shopping for a new fish or checking on compatibilities of the current stocking of my aquarium. Great guide with detail and clear photos of different families of fishes. Scott Micheal is an excellent author and photographer. I highly recommend this guide and it's companion guide by Ronald Shimek, Marine Invertebretes. Please click YES if my review have been helpful to you, it will encourage me to continue writing and updating my reviews, and leave a comment if you have any questions, I will be more than happy to answer if I can be of help.

Handy Quick Guide
The book is a good quick guide for fish species selection. I live in a location where species selection is limited. The guide helps to evaluate an available species at the local fish store. I keep the book in Kindle format on my phone and use it when looking at an available species to see if it fits an open niche in my reef tank.So far the information in the book matches my first hand experience.

A Perfect Fish Guide
I have been in salt water hobby for years and this is by for the most user friendly reference for marine fish, period. A stable aquarium depends on fish comparability within a system--which fish do and don't get along with one another, which fish get along with inverts or corals, etc. You can't absolutely trust the kids that work in fish stores for advice. You need to do this research yourself yourself. With the money that you're spending on everything, it's well worth your time to make sure you're putting the system together right.

Excellent quick guide
This comes in very handy when u want something specific from your local fish store and they don't know what you are talking about. Key symbols describe coral and invertibrate compatibility. So good I got the kindle edition so i can access it on my phone and tablet. Knocked one star off because of an overly pixelly plate on pg.81 of a Reynolds reef basslet. Otherwise an excellent guide on the fly. Highly recommend it.
