I did notice that he loved to puck on corners and squeeze behind the sponge ...
This product really worked as described! I am a newbie fish owner, so I have very little experience taking care of my goldfish. However, I noticed that he had some scales fallen out after having him for less than 1 month. I didn't know how he had a few of his scales fallen out since he was in a 30 gallon tank. I have few ornaments in the tank, and there weren't any sharp objects as well. I did notice that he loved to puck on corners and squeeze behind the sponge a lot, so I assumed it may have been from that. So, I went online and started reading up on how to take care of my goldfish and how to help him grow back his scales or prevent more from falling. At this time, I also wasn't sure if he had other diseases as well since this was my first time taking care of a fish. So, I saw and read several reviews on this product where previous customers and experienced fish owners wrote about it helping their fish, as well as, preventing diseases and other ailments. I thought I gave this item a try. It was one of the best products I've bought for my fish. It really helped him healed his scales. I noticed the area where his scales were missing darkened and turned fleshy again. In about 1 week or so, I noticed the area started growing scales already. I am very happy with this item. However, this product is very strong. I have a small, young goldfish in a 30 gallon freshwater tank, with a 50 gallon Aquaclear water filter system, and following the dosages for this product for a 30 gallon tank, I noticed my goldfish acted very agitated to this product. His eyes also started bulging out more. After observing this, I did 25% water change and used half the given dosage. I think this amount was more tolerable to my baby goldfish. I also noticed that my fish scales and fins became silkier after a week of usage. I'm really happy I tried this product out. I would recommend a lower dosage if you have smaller fish. I also recommend to do at least 2 days 25% water change every time you use the product.

Saved my Black Moor Goldfish!
My black moor goldfish accidentally got stuck in the siphon when my son was cleaning the tank and it damaged his eye. I put him in a nursing tank and added the Melafix and within 4 days his eye was completely healed. Amazing product!! The water did turn cloudy and murky with the medicine in it but I just monitored the water with test strips and as long as it was good then I continued the treatment.

Happy Little Fishy - No More Fin Rot!
I adopted my blue betta fish from a friend who bought him from a pet store and could no longer keep him. He came to me with fin rot, clamped fins, and white cottony fungus. I used this along with API Pimafix, and within a couple weeks, he was looking much better! The white fungus disappeared and his fins were fuller. The Melafix seemed to be effective for everything except the fungus - it treated his popeye and fin rot, as well as a few open sores. Be sure to use the recommended dosage so you don't over or under dose your fish, especially for smaller tanks. The cap is also a measuring cup and has the markings printed into it. I have a Marina 2 gallon tank since my betta lives by himself, and the dosage is around the bottom marking on the cap. This bottle lasted me a long time. Other reviews seem to be concerned about the efficacy of this product for fin rot - while this product kept my fish's fin rot from getting more aggressive, what really made the difference in my fish's fins was purchasing a heater and correcting the temperature of my tank. Fish don't heal well if they're too cold or fed sub-par, old food. Overall, if you're looking to improve your fish's health, this is an easy way to get rid of a handful of common ailments that face pet store fish. It does smell a little and if you don't change the water regularly it will get cloudy, but the smell is reminiscent of tea tree oil - make sure to wash your hands if you spill. Works but is very potent, use sparingly!
I have used melafix for years with good results. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 due to the horrid instructions. If you follow the instructions as written they will have you massively overdosing your aquarium with the stuff. My advice is dose it ONE time then wait 7 days do water change etc. Even a half dose would probably work ok.

This Really works!
Have you ever witnessed the ping-pong ball drop into the fish bowl and your son or daughters eyes light up like vegas slot machine? 3 years ago those lights were beaming from my kids eyes as mine were rolling back. "Mr. Bubbles we'll call him Dad" as I smiled through gritting teeth while thoughts of accidentally dropping the bowl in the parking lot danced in my head. While on the ride home I was reminiscing on all of the bad luck pets have had under our care and came up with a brilliant idea to tell my kid. "Honey, I know you love Mr Bubbles, but just know that these little fish only live a couple weeks" (I was hoping I could keep it alive at least that long) Three years and $200 later after 2 tank upgrades, pumps, filters, gravel, plants, log and all of the water conditioning chemicals Mr. Bubbles has survived. (After 3 months my kid changed the name to Miracle as it had far surpassed the life span I had given it. ) About a month ago, Miracle was hanging out on the bottom of the tank, not moving to much. After a few days of him being lethargic, we noticed some white gunk on his gills and his fins were not looking good. I googled and thought I found the answer in "Ick" after that did not work and Miracle's condition worsened, I researched some more and found fin rot as the culprit. By this time, Miracle was just laying on the bottom of the tank mostly on his side, eyes clouded over…. not good. Day one after putting the Melafix in the tank, he started swimming again, By day two he looked to be swimming even better, within a week, He is like a new fish again! No more cloudy eyes, strong swimming and appetite is back. This stuff really works! Highly recommend it!

Works! BUT I got an air stone to be safe
I'm watching a coworkers betta while they're out of the office for the summer and could tell he was showing the early stages of fin rot on his top fin. I am paranoid of him dying on my watch since he's not mine and also I've grown attached to him. I got this medication and was pleased it's natural/tea tree-based but I've read (and heard horror stories from friends) about even natural medication killing their fish - most medications have oils, making it hard to breathe for them and ultimately causing death. To be extra safe about him getting oxygen, I also bought & put in an air stone and made sure the bubble output was high -diffusing microbubbles, and adjusted the pump output to not be too strong in order to not overwhelm the fish since bettas don't like too much current/water disturbance. The medication is working, and he is also seems happier than ever with a lot more activity and is actually using his tank objects, unlike before! If you're worried about the medication/oils, make sure to get an air stone that doesn't have bubbles too large - the tinier the better for oxygen diffusion!

API MELAFIX
Three stars because the bottles didn't have a thermos-sealed cap. This suggests the medicine may have been bottled in a basement, not a factory, and is not of the expected quality. Be careful when ordering!
