Keeps my fish pond crystal clear
I use this product several times a year, from early spring till late fall. It helps to keep the water clear.

Good product.
I live in the high desert so my pond gets lots of sun, and therefore lots of algae. UV bulbs and an algaecide help keep it clean but lots of sludge plugs my filter system. Orb-3 really made a difference. My filter no longer plugs up every week.

We are using this for out 5000 gallon pond. It seems to be a bit cheaper than using stinky red liquid bacteria.

May be good for small ponds but DID NOT WORK for our large 1 acre pond
We have a large 1 acre pond that really needed some help. I followed the dosage suggestions for the size of our pond, and did consecutive doses but I did not see a change. After a month, there is NO visible change at all; I was quite disappointed. Especially for the price of the bucket. If it happens to work in the upcoming months, I'll update... but based on other reviews it does not surprise me. I think it would work well for a smaller pond where you have more control over it; but with a large pasture pond it's not feasible or workable, unfortunately.

The Jury is Still Out, But It Seem to Be Working
Due to our long, extremely cold Iowa winter that extended well into Spring, I was not able to apply this to our just less than a half acre pond until last week. Therefore, I don't feel I've had time enough to honestly tell if it's doing the job or not.Our relatively new pond is in it's fourth summer and is suffering from a few issues, including filamentous algae and cattails, that are taking over. I also believe that most, if not all, of the fish that I had stocked over the past 3 years were killed by the severely cold winter. There were a lot of "floaters" this Spring which is the main reason I was concerned about excess organic contamination and wanted to try this product. At first I thought that this wouldn't be enough to treat our 14 foot deep, .45 acre pond. Then, I found a formula to calculate acre/feet and realized that I may actually have used too much. The simple formula is the acre size of the pond times one-third the depth which equals acre-feet. I've seen other suggestions of using .40 percent of depth or, if you want more accuracy, you can measure the depth using a grid pattern and then use the average of that, but this is a quick estimation and worked for my purposes. The jest of this is that I used the entire 10 pound bucket for the first treatment so I should have plenty of nutrient-muck munching bacteria in my pond. I had used the information given when I ordered it which stated, "This 10-lb pail will treat a 1/4 acre pond with an average depth of 4'-5' for one full season." The fact is, directions (that I sort of overlooked) state that you should re-treat with a half dose weekly following the initial dose. It's an ongoing treatment plan which, in cases with a pond like mine, can get pricey. My pond water seems quite clear at the moment, between the algae and cattails at least. I have some products on order to help take care of these issues as well. I will update this review as I have more information to add.6-23-14- This seems to be helping, even with my mistake. The water is very clear and the bottom appears less scummy where I can see it. Yay!
