You can tune the strings to whatever notes you like as it is a chromatic tuner, but it does not have specific settings for open tunings. **Q: What is detection accuracy in polyphonic mode?** A: I don't know for sure but since the other answer described the display of the notes, I'm going to guess that the polyphonic mode (though dependent on your instrument) probably reads 'in tune' when the pitches are within 1-2 cents of the assumed pitches. I too would like to know Polytune's official answer to your question. I'm assuming their .02 cents refers to a totally pure, fundamental heavy articulation of the note being measured. Plucking technique and observer bias can cause all sorts of different observations (accuracy/inaccuracy) but intonation of Em7sus4 chords are definitely averages of harmonic content, I'm not sure it's possible to decide on a specific frequency (at a resolution of .02 cents) when the instrument is moving sympathetically to other pitches. The Polyphonic feature is really for when you don't have time to tune it note by note but you need to have the confidence that you'll be close enough not to come across as deaf to your own sound. **Q: Is the auto off defeatable? A few minutes is unacceptable. I need it to stay on.** A: I’m not sure what you’re using it for, but if your stringed instrument won’t stay in tune for more than a few minutes, you might need a more robust instrument. And it should stay on as long as it’s recognizing the tuning activity. I’ve never had one power off while I’m tuning up. Play hard, rock on. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best, most durable clip on tuner you can buy *by U***4 on August 23, 2026* Simply the best clip on tuner you can buy, accurate and indestructible (I stepped on my accidentally several times, no issues whatsoever). This is the only clip on tuner I'll use. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Accurate and easy to use *by D***E on February 2, 2026* I’ve been using the TC Electronic POLYTUNE CLIP clip-on tuner and it works flawlessly. It’s very accurate, locks on quickly, and makes tuning fast and hassle-free. The display is bright and easy to read, even in low-light settings. I like how solid it feels once clipped on, and the polyphonic mode is a nice bonus when you want to check tuning quickly. Battery life has been great so far, and it’s small enough to keep on the instrument without getting in the way. If you want a reliable, high-quality clip-on tuner that’s quick and precise, this one is excellent. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Accurate, fun, and doesn't look like Rodan landed on your guitar's headstock. *by E***M on February 11, 2016* This is my first clip-on tuner, and I think it's pretty great despite not having anything to compare it to. It seems to be every bit as accurate, quick and easy to use as my Polytune 2 pedal tuner (which I also really love). The polyphonic mode isn't as accurate as when you check each string individually (in fact, yes, the modes appear not to agree perfectly sometimes, as one guy who gave it two stars noted), but the polyphonic function gives you a quick and easy way to see if a string is so far out of tune that you should take the time to adjust it. One strum across all the strings and a quick glance is all it takes to see where things are at, and it's a super fast way to tune all your strings at once if you're in a hurry and don't want to tune each string one at a time to perfection (and if you do, then you may also suffer from OCD). Strobe mode is very accurate, but a little trippy to decipher until you get used to it, then it's very fast (also sort of space-age and fun). When deciding to purchase this I read some reviews that complained that they didn't like the clip, but I don't agree with them. It appears minimalist, functional, and robust. I'm not sure what those other folks expect. From an aesthetic design standpoint, this tuner is a lot less obtrusive and far more slick looking than the other options out there. One guy said he was afraid it could scratch his headstock, but I think you'd have to work at it pretty hard for that to happen. I also read some reviews that complained that the PolyTune Clip was a little fussy about where it's placed on the headstock in order to read all the strings. I found this to be somewhat true, but not an issue for me since it works great on the end of my Martin acoustic headstock, and in the middle of both my Fender Stratocaster headstocks (though not as well on the tip of the Stratocaster headstock where it's harder to see anyway). Others complained that since it doesn't swivel in all directions they didn't like it, but I've not really found that to be a problem for me since the best placements on my headstocks also happen to be in places and at an angle where it's easy to see. I also suspect that if it had another point to swivel from it may not be as accurate and sensitive as it is since more rotating parts means more places to negatively affect the vibrations it's trying to sense. In order to get the most out of it, you probably need to read the manual. I suspect some of the negative reviewers aren't big on doing that, and that's why they're happier with the less expensive clip-on tuners. Or maybe they just got a defective unit, who knows. ## Frequently Bought Together - TC Electronic POLYTUNE CLIP Clip-On Tuner with Polyphonic, Strobe and Chromatic Modes and 108 LED Matrix Display for Ultimate Tuning Performance - Amazon Basics Adjustable Folding Guitar Stand, A-shape, Fully Assembled - For School Music Program, Concerts & Multiple Users, Black - Fender Premium Picks Sampler - 12 Pack Includes Thin, Medium & Heavy Gauges (Austin Bazaar Exclusive) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.ph/products/16311149-polytune-clip-clip-on-tuner-with-polyphonic-strobe-and-chromatic](https://www.desertcart.ph/products/16311149-polytune-clip-clip-on-tuner-with-polyphonic-strobe-and-chromatic) --- *Product available on Desertcart Philippines* *Store origin: PH* *Last updated: 2026-10-09*
