Use this. Way better than DDSEP
Enjoyable and engaging reading makes for excellent teaching and retention. Way more high yield than DDSEP (which wastes your time with excessive questions that are un-testable, controversial, or just trivial points from studies done by the academician question writer). Lots of questions that test multiple aspects of GI in one question (also high yield) and emphasis on buzzwords. Not to mention it's light and easy to tote around in a bag. Thanks Dr. Spiegel!P.s. The negative reviews above aren't relevant because this isn't an overview of clinical GI (not sure what gave them that idea). Rather, this book is a rapid-fire overview of the highly-tested zebras and rare amalgamations of lumen/hep/pancbil/ibd +/- derm/ID/genetics/drugs that we'll likely see on the boards. (hence, you should know clinical GI before reading this book)

Excellent review; good review of many of the nit-picky items that boards tend to cover. Easily picked me up several points on the exam. Best book of the three from Slack Inc. - those of us old enough to remember recall that Slack used to run the annual GI meetings so has a long affiliation with the gastroenterology field.

Great crunch time resource
Great crunch time resource. Just took this dreaded exam a few weeks ago and I found this book very helpful in studying the minutia that is often tested. It is well written and presents things in a lighthearted way so that it makes learning painful material somewhat interesting

Highly Recommend
This is an easy read that emphasizes high yield topics. I enjoyed reading this book, and highly recommend it for boards studying or basic review.

Meh...
If you are looking for comprehensive review of all GI topics, then this is not it.Most of it is a collection of weird esoteric clinical scenarios and rare diseases. There are short clinical vignettes on one page and brief answer highlighting associations with the disease on the opposite page.Would not use as only resource for studying.Really not as helpful as I was led to believe by colleagues. And definitely too expensive for what it is.
