It is flat on the back with a hole to mount it on the wall. Battery is also accessible from the back, (which is a box that actiually gas the hole in it) and can be easily replaced.

It is battery powered but has been nothing but trouble since I bought it. Haven't had time to deal with it but I wouldn't recommend it.
