First up: will the people who will vote this review as being unhelpful please explain why they find it so when they do. Thank you.Second: This sees the film debut of a villain from Iron Man comics called the Mandarin. But a man with mystic powers doesn't quite fit into the style of these films. So the character has been somewhat altered. In a way that may not please some comic book fans. You have been advised. But never having read an Iron Man comic in my life;I don't care!And neither will others who haven't read one either. But who enjoy these movies. And they, at the end of the day, are in the majority.DVD specifics:Languages: English, Flemish. French.Subtitles: English, Arabic Bulgarian, Croatian, Dutch, Greek, Slovenian, French.The disc begins with lots of trailers and adverts. Which can be skipped by pressing the next chapter button on the dvd remote control.All these trailers and adverts appear in the sneak peeks section of the dvd anyhow.The only extras are:'Exclusive behind the scenes look at Thor: The Dark World.' Which is a one minute long promotional feature of clips and talking heads for the forthoming Thor sequel. It's short, but it does make the film look really good.'Deconstructing the scene - attack on Air Force One.' Is an eight minute long look at how one big set piece in Iron Man Three was filmed. It's pretty interesting viewing.The film itself is set sometime after the end of  Marvel's Avengers Assemble [DVD ] [which you probably don't need to have seen in order to get into this. But then if you're watching this you probably will have anyhow]. It sees Tony troubled by what happened in said Avengers movie.He's not troubled by the events of the first scene, though. A flashback to a time a few years before when he got involved with an engimatic lady and gave a nerdy inventor the brush off. But perhaps he should be... [as the narratation makes clear].When trying to deal with ruthless international terrorist the Mandarin [Ben Kingsley] Tony finds his world under attack. And without much of he relies on, he has to use his ingenuity to survive. And strike back.Can he bring The Mandarin to justice? And find the truth about some horrifying experiments?This is the 'hero gets knocked down and starts to doubt themselves, can they find their way back up?' movie plotline. But then there are, as someone once said, only so many stories. The familarity shouldn't put you off.It doesn't have to tie into any other Marvel movie or set things up. So the focus can be firmly on Tony throughout. Which allows for it to be a strong character pic.There does come a point once we're past all the set up when it really clicks. There's good character interaction. Fun dialogue. Even a smart kid character never gets annoying. Good humour. And a plot with a few decent twists and turns. Plus a pretty good villain.Big set pieces are more than adequate and pretty spectacular with it. Although the final set piece is perhaps one too many, but that's only a minor complaint.It tries to round off the Iron Man Trilogy and bring closure to a lot of things, and it succeeds in doing that. Whilst not entirely closing the door for more [since the money men wouldn't be happy if he wasn't in the Avengers sequel, after all].Everything a blockbuster movie should be. Good escapist spectacular entertainment, and well worth 5/5.There is a scene after the credits, as is common with these movies. But unlike most it doesn't actually set up anything for any future films. But it's still worth a look.

Well worth a view

I’m not a hugely interested in super hero movies but our youngest is a big fan of the theme. And I must admit the movies are generally good entertainment for the family during our weekly 'movie-nights'. Even my wife, who is mostly into chick flicks has started to develop an interest.So we’ve watched the 3 Iron Man movies with our children, 7 and 9 years old. The first two on blu ray that we still had at hand. This 3rd we bought on Prime. The 3rd Iron Man instalment has more shocking moments than the others. So with the youngest it was slightly scary a couple of times but he slept well after it. His older sister, who likes the reasonably gruesome Lord of the rings and Hobbit movies, somehow struggled more with this movie, the red eyed veterans in particular. She had a nightmare about them the night after we watched it.But as said, it’s good entertainment, with spectacular, good quality visuals. And Tony simply remains a funny character. The digital Prime version was perfect.The first thing I should say however is that we decided to watch the 3 Iron man movies in sequence. This worked well with the first 2 but in this 3rd instalment that are a few references to an event in New York and aliens. So we’ll now have to catch up with this through the Avenger movies I guess.Also, a more cynical note. I know it’s unwise to question potholes and plausibility in a super hero movie. But they alway got my mind racing. This time I still struggle to understand how Killian’s wounded army veterans that received traumatic injuries, and that through a breakthrough scientific experiment could regrow their lost limbs turned into some sort of evil drones. In particularly (spoiler) since Pepper Potts Was exposed to the same treatment and was still sweet as honey. Also while these veterans were able to generate 3000C heat from their body, somehow their clothes didn’t catch fire!. And, if Tony had a personal army of iron man suits at home, why didn’t he order them into action when the attack on his mansion occurred?Then by the end of the movie Tony simply decides to have surgery to remove rocket shrapnels from near his heart.. really?? - the whole second movie was about his progressive terminal condition because of this shrapnel that could not be removed!. Well, all least is gone for the 4th movie.Anyway, maybe you should think too much about such details and just enjoy the movie.

Just what I needed to complete my iron man collection at a good price

I definitely prefer the Marvel universe to the darker DC world of comics, so this darker take on the Iron Man saga was much less enjoyable to me than the rest of the Marvel movies. With Iron Man also one of my least favorite Marvel characters to boot, I struggled to find something to like here. I tried to review this movie as someone not preferring any one character over another, however, and think most "True Believers" would give this at least a solid three stars. Action and visuals are certainly up to par with other Marvel movies, as is the always spectacular 3D. While not my favorite, this is certainly not a bad chapter in the ongoing saga. Admittedly a "must" for Marvel completionists.

Der 7. Teil des MCU bietet zunächst einen Rückblick ins Jahr 1999, also noch vor der Zeit bevor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) zum Iron Man wurde. Dort bandelt er mit der Biologin Maya Hansen (Rebecca Hall) in Cern an und feiert die Silvesternacht. Hansen hat das Verfahren Extremis erfunden. Mit diesem ist es möglich, die menschliche DNA beliebig zu verändern. Auf der Party ist auch Aldrich Killian, der Stark einen Vorschlag unterbreiten will. Stark verabredet sich mit ihm auf dem Dach des Gebäudes (um ihn abzuwimmeln). Während Killian in der Kälte friert und vergebens auf Stark wartet, vergnügt der sich mit Hansen.Jetzt, nach "The Avengers": Der Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) ist ein Top-Terrorist und bedroht die USA ganz unverhohlen in seinen Videos. Die amerikanische Regierung sieht darin einen rein militärischen Auftrag und nutzt auch keine Superhelden - nun ja, bis auf einen, den von War Maschine in Iron Patriot umbenannten James Rhodes (Don Cheadle). Stark hingegen hat sowohl die Alien Invasion in New York als auch dessen Beinahe-Tod durch die Nuklearexplosion bzw. das schließende Tor über der Stadt nicht verarbeitet. Er leidet unter posttraumatischen Belastungsstörungen und schweren Panikattacken, die immer mal wieder auftreten sodass er plötzlich Schutz in seiner Rüstung suchen muss.Selbst bei Gesprächen mit seiner Freundin Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) ist er nicht zugegen sondern lediglich die leere Rüstung, während er wie ein Besessener im Keller arbeitet - ohne schlafen zu können. Das führt natürlich auch zum ein oder anderen Unfall beim Basteln. Nunmehr wendet sich nach all den Jahren Killian an Potts, die Extremis allerdings ablehnt, da das Projekt auch als Waffe verwendet werden könnte. Als Tonys ehemaliger Angestellter und Kumpel Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) ermittelt, da er Killian nicht traut, wird dieser schwer bei einer Explosion im TCL Chinese Theatre verletzt. Der Mandarin übernimmt die Verantwortung für den Attentat. Daraufhin lässt sich der wütende Stark durch Journalisten zu einer unüberlegten (mal wieder) Aussage hinreißen und erklärt dem Mandarin den Krieg - unter Angabe seiner Anschrift. Es kommt, wie es kommen muss...Neben all der Action werden die Charaktere nicht vergessen. Das ist das Schöne an den Marvel-Verfilmungen. Stark kommt hier nicht nur als narzisstisches ungehobeltes ... rüber, das er ja auch früher war, sondern kämpft hier mit inneren Dämonen und versucht dies hinter Sprüchen (und drei Meter Plüschhasen, für die Wände einzureißen sind um sie ins Treppenhaus zu stellen) zu verstecken. Er ist nicht perfekt, sondern macht Fehler. Immer wieder lässt er sich zu unüberlegten Aktionen hinreißen ohne über die Folgen für sich und seine Umgebung nachzudenken. Das ist gerade in den Anfangsfilmen immer wieder deutlich geworden.Ebenso kann der Zuschauer bei der Entwicklung des Marvel-Universums entdecken, dass diverse Handlungen von Helden, insbesondere die von Tony Stark, immer wieder dazu führen, dass hier eigene Feinde erschaffen werden. Das mag vielleicht nicht immer anfangs erkennbar sein, aber das hat ein Muster. So macht er sich hier Aldrich Killian zum Feind. Im 16. Kinofilm des MCU: Homecoming ist es Adrian Toomes, dessen Unternehmen von den Aufräumarbeiten in New York wegbeordert wird. Die Vorgeschichte in diesem Film spielt ungefähr zur gleichen Zeit wie Iron Man 3. Und in "Far From Home", Film 23, ist es Quentin Beck und eine Anzahl von weiteren Mitarbeiter, die Stark Industries verprellt hat.Der Mix aus Drama und Komödie wechseln sich dank Robert Downey Jr. ab. Aber auch Ben Kingsley ist in seiner Rolle stark und ganz anders als zunächst erwartet. In Shang Chi (Film 25) sieht man ihn dann wieder.Die Extremis-Handlung ist einer Comicreihe für Iron Man entnommen worden, die zwischen 2005 und 2006 erschien. Es taucht in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. erneut auf. Im bereits genannten Shang Chi taucht ein Extremis-Soldat auf.

Timely delivery, not excellent but good packing and cheaply priced, what else can one say. I had an ultimate experience with the good 3D quality along with good audio quality. Thanks once again Amazon. Till now I have had good experience with Amazon.

La presentación de este Blu Ray en caja metálica exclusiva es absolutamente maravillosa. La caja viene serigrafiada con el reactor ARK de Tony Stark en la parte frontal y el póster de la película en la trasera. Además de la parte interior que muestra al héroe en su posición característica. Hay un disco con unos menús animados preciosos. Los extras son variados, incluyendo un audiocomentario con el director/guionista Shane Black y el guionista Drew Pearce, una pista de tomas falsas, un cortometraje dedicado a la novia del Capitán América y agente de SHIELD Peggy titulado "Agente Carter", un reportaje sobre los efectos especiales de una escena, un avance de "Thor 2" y un estupendo making of de 15 minutos.La película alucinante en alta definición. Imagen de 10 y sonido fantástico también aunque ligeramente mejor en la pista de habla inglesa, como ya viene siendo habitual en los títulos de Marvel.En cuanto a la película y sabiendo la controversia que hay con ella: a mi me encanta. Es mi película favorita del año. Una cinta de acción y efectos especiales con un guión lleno de sorpresas. Ni siquiera quienes reniegan de ella pueden decir que no les sorprendió el guión (es el motivo por el que muchos odian la película, un giro argumental sorpresa que no deja indiferente ni para bien, ni para mal). Antes de que traten de liquidarme: soy lectora de comics Marvel desde los 6 años, tengo tomos originales de Iron Man en la estanteria de mi casa. Y soy muy pero muy fan de las películas y adoro los personajes. Vuelvo a repetir: ME ENCANTA la película. Es divertida, sorprendente y muy centrada en los personajes, sus vivencias y problemas. Destila humor, también emotividad y sentimientos por parte de los personajes. Lo que se agradece mucho en una película del género de acción.En definitiva:Recomendable si te gusta el buen cine de acción y fantasía, no tienes prejuicios y prefieres que un guión trabajado te sorprenda que ver lo mismo de siempre.No recomendable: si eres un fan de los cómics de mente cerrada y/o un amante de las películas de acción en las que solo explotan trastos y los personajes no importan nada. Si encajas en estas dos categorías pasa de esta película o pasarás dos meses renegando de ella por internet. Quien avisa, no es traidora.
