Great replacement part
My Dyson which is almost 5 years old had a problem where the bottom part wouldn't work anymore. I looked up the item number and was happy to find that Dyson sold parts on Amazon since I really didn't want to buy a new Dyson yet. The rest of the Dyson works fine and this new part is brand new and works perfectly plus you can't beat next day shipping.

Excellent Replacement Head that is OEM
Great replacement head for my Hi-Torque Dyson v10 old head had a broken gear, and this replacement was exactly the same. Works great!

Effective upgrade for both my V10 and V8 machines.
We have both a Dyson V8 and V10 for different locations. Each has its advantages. All the attachments we have used are completely interchangeable. One of the motor heads broke and although it had probably been used back and forth between the two vacuums I was able to determine it was the older V8's unit. So it had a reasonably long life span. I tried to fix it but Dyson makes this very difficult and as most of you know, replacements parts are absurdly expensive.I called Dyson and was told the replacement parts are out of stock and they did not know when (or if) they would be available again. The Dyson sales person offered no alternative. This did not give me a lot of confidence about buying Dyson products in the future. However, Amazon has plenty of these replacement parts available and it became a matter of determining which one to get. (Dyson makes your head spin with many different part numbers for what seems like the same part and never specifies any distinction.)After spending quite a bit of time researching online I decided the "high torque" motorhead from the V11 would fit my vacuums and perhaps be an upgrade. Since the price was pretty much the same as the older parts it seemed like a no-brainer, particularly with Amazon's great return policy. My only concern was reading reviews saying people received small motorheads, something I most certainly did not want.My package arrived the next day in a box labeled as a Dyson original part #: 970100-05. Inside was exactly the part I hoped for, the same width as the original V10 (and V8) motorhead. It was not labeled "high torque" as some photos show but had the 3-position switch on the front that controls airflow. When looking at the label with the tiny print on the back I found what I believe to be the most important difference between the regular and high torque model. On my V10 (and V8) cleaner heads the label notes the voltage as 16.2 VDC and the wattage as 50. (There is no English head so I'm providing an educated guess on what the numbers means.)On the new model being reviewed here the volt and watt numbers are 17.2 and 100, respectively. So the new head has double the wattage. The new unit has a different color roller brush (same dimensions) and also a rubberized cover on the back rather than the more open area when dirt and debris gets stuck. To my ears the new one seems to run very slightly quieter and the switch intended for different surfaces makes a significant difference in how the motorhead operates depending on whether it's cleaning hard floors, carpets, etc.Overall I am very happy with this purchase in every area except for Dyson's excessive pricing. Still, I paid about $25 less on Amazon than Dyson charges directly and received my item far more quickly.

I give up on Dyson. Never again!!
This torque head came with my vacuum from the factory. All of a sudden it stopped working. I had power from the contacts in the vacuum handle all the way through the extension, and them I tested it with the small electric carpet brush attachment, which did work. So why did main brush stop working? —Well guess what I bought this one on Amazon to replace it, then I vacuumed twice with it for only a few seconds a couple minutes apart, then it stopped working. It only worked for about five minutes. Piece of junk!! These Dyson vacuums are expensive but they are built like cheap plastic toys. I also have a separate issue with the dust bin not opening, I tried everything and it won’t work. Now I also have another issue with the battery, it’s not seating correctly, which by the way, the battery is connected with three very tiny metal screws that go thread into plastic, not even metal, what a genius design!! I decided to trash this junk vacuum, waste of $600 and had bought it in 2020. I will never buy another Dyson again. Absolute trash engineering!!

Genuine Replacement
I rated this 4 stars because of the fact that the original needed replacement. Dyson products are innovative and work well, but the build quality is somewhat lacking. A lot of plastic pieces that break over time and hardware that backs out and gets lost.
