Saint Joseph Guide for Christian Prayer: The Liturgy of the Hours, for Use with Edition No. 407 Paperback – October 1, 2014

I got this for my wife, who wanted to do the daily devotions in the Book of Christian Prayer. I noted to her that it requires a lot of flipping pages to get to the right prayers. I guess I'm not that dedicated to saying the daily devotions, which is exactly the reason I stopped using it.Anyway, after encountering this obstacle, she decided it was too difficult and time consuming, and confusing, to flip back and forth through the book. She has stopped using the guide, and just does the daily Mass readings.A more dedicated person would find this a good value, especially if they like the feel of a book in their hands, since the price is so small.I have found an app that brings up all the daily readings every day, and is very easy to use (and I still don't use it every day). Still if my battery fails, I can pick up the guide and go right into the book for the right prayers.

This is the second year I've tried to pray the liturgy of the hours. Deciding whether a day is a special day or an ordinary one - or even where one is in the Psalter can be very confusing. This guide is essential to locating the correct liturgy for the day. It took a little while to get used to the notation, but now a glance is all I need to check where I am at.

I am happy with the service and quick shipping. I however was sent the wrong item. I ordered the Christian prayer guide and was sent a guide for the 4 volume Liturgy of the Hours. I still give 4 starts because this can be easily resolved.Thank you

I would have given this zero but part was my fault. Who sells the 2013 guide in 2014? It didn't say what year in the item title so I incorrectly assumed it was the guide for year 2014. After delivery and disappointment, I re-looked at the order and picture shows a 2013 guide. Who would buy last year's guide? Need another for their collection??? It should have been plainly stated what year it was in the item title. I found the whole process deceptive but bad on me, it won't happen again.

I actually purchased the Roman Franciscan Christian Prayer - Liturgy of the Hours and the Saint Joseph guide for the Franciscan edition is slightly different than this guide being reviewed. Please be aware that this guide works ONly with the Catholic Book Publishing Corp. Christian Prayer (the Liturgy of the Hours) edition.

BTW, if you are purchasing the Christian Prayer/Divine Office, a guide will be included with the book. Order this if you already have the book and need an up-to-date guide. (You can also get the daily readings online; divineoffice.org)

We are Starting groups of Third Order Lay Carmelite and it was instructed to us to used the Christian Prayer and through the "Guielines" help ...it is easy to follow. Thanks to you for having these available to us.

Easy to follow and gets me to the right pages for each days Prayer. The only thing that I did not like is that I ordered it the end of November, first of December and the guide that was sent to me was for 2013 and therefore only of use to me for the one month. I would have preferred to have the 2014 guide sent with my purchase of the Brevery.
