The Gate From Hell.
The pieces do not attach. When you are moving it, it literally comes apart into 30 different pieces. When you close it, if you pull up, it will lock and it's impossible to get it back closed.I cannot believe someone got away with selling this terrible product. Do not buy.

Stuck Right in the Middle
There are basically two types of child gates out there. You have the cheap ones that are just tension based and then you have the heavy duty ones that need to be installed. This gate claims it's a tension gate with a gate. That seemed suspicious, but I went with it.I received this item, unpacked it, and followed the instructions to install it. Right away they tell you that if you do not screw brackets into your walls or door jam, this will not keep a kid from knocking it over. What do we learn from that? This is not really a tension gate.So if it's not tension gate, it's trying to rival the big, bad, heavy duty gates. Well, it fails there. Here is the problem - The latch is total garbage. It's cheap plastic that you have to push to open AND to close it. I know why they did this. They wanted you to be able to swing the gate either way. Here is the problem with that - auto latch is FAR more useful than being able to swing the gate in two directions, especially if you installed in a door jam.Beyond being flimsy, the gate barely latches. I really question how well it will keep a kid out. Now, if you are planning on using this for a dog gate, not installing the brackets, and using it as a real tension gate, it's okay. You over paid big time, but it's not too bad. It does keep dogs out.So bottom line - Kids - NO - Dogs - Maybe.

Nice looking sturdy gate but flimsy latch
This is a sturdy metal gate with nice mounting brackets, white in color with gray plastic corners. It is designed to be screwed into the doorframe, but is very sturdy with only the included screw tension brackets alone. I am using mine as a dog gate, not for children, and the included instructions warn that you must use the screw mounting for child safety. The flaw in this gate is the latch. It is awkward to use. To open the latch, you must use the sliding thumb latch and lift at the same time, which is awkward because the spring is sticky and does not move smoothly. Closing the latch requires the same movement, plus a bit of force to align it properly. The plastic of the latch is thin and not designed as sturdy as the rest of the gate, and with all the extra movement needed to operate it, I don't expect the latch to last as long as the metal gate itself. The screw-design adjustable mounting brackets allow you to fit the gate exactly to your doorway, ideal for older or newer houses with a variety of doorway sizes. I believe extensions are available for purchase if you need a wider door coverage, but I am wary about investing money into this gate, as the latch may fail prematurely.

Does not hold up to a young toddler
I have to give this a very poor review. We installed it late yesterday afternoon, it was not particularly easy to install to begin with took a lot of effort from my husband to get it to stay. We finally got it as good as we were going to get. The latch just barely locks on the door but it locks so we thought well good enough. Well in less then 24 hrs my son who is 20 months old has already figured out how to lock and unlock the gate 🤦 completely pointless. We wanted this gate to use so we could leave the door open and see him playing in his bedroom while we do other things however, this clearly won't happen since he knows how to let himself in and out as he pleases. I don't see anyway of making the lock tighter or more secure and the only way we could make it work is to Jerry rig it. Also on a side note it doesn't even automatically lock you have to make sure you lock it behind you and it isnt particularly easy to do you have to line it up just perfect to make sure it locks in to place and then jiggle it around to make sure that it did properly lock. Really this is just a bunch of money for a useless gate. We have had way cheaper that do their jobs way better.

Excellent quality, sturdy, and upscale
This gate is definitely upscale and much sturdier than the wooden gate I used previously. It takes some adjusting, but then when one screws the bolts tight (into the unit not the wall unless on the stairs), it's not going to fall and let a small child or pet get hurt. I'm 'mechanically challenged' so if I could set it up and adjust it, others should not have a problem either. This is so much safer, passing through the gate rather than having to step over a fixed unit and falling or knocking the gate out of the door frame. Another plus is the bars are all vertical so there is nothing for pets or kids to climb on to get over it and the gate closes automatically unless opened fully to keep open. It definitely looks classier than a wooden gate.I worried about the plastic moving parts until I noted it is plastic coating over metal. This gate could last through generations of children and pets.

Weak Latch, but overall Good Gate.
This is my initial review for the Little Chicks Winston Pressure Mounted Security Gate, and I will continue updating it as I use it.I wanted this gate to prevent my toddler from going into the basement. He is been very active so all stairs have to be blocked. The extra tall height was key, and my door opening is only about 30” so I therefore did not have to use any of the extenders. The installation was easy but can be a bit confusing because some of the parts were already inserted into the top and bottom of the gate and/or extenders. I have no issues with opening this gate with one hand. There is an added mechanism to the gate you can utilize to allow the door to only swing in one direction, or both. You can lock that mechanism in place when the door is closed and locked as an added security measure. For those of you with children like me I think this is a key. One thing i'm not happy about is the latch, it is very weak. All in all happy with this gate so far!
