Start small and build up or you will be very sore.....
I was told by my orthapedic surgeon's assistant that this is a great device to stretch out your hamstrings in your legs and a great way to prepare for knee replacement. I tried to sleep with this on, and I was so sore for several days after that I have never tried to use it again. It is best to only use this for small increments of time and build up; else, you will be very sore. I found it uncomfortable to sleep with it on due to covers getting tangled in it, etc. I probably ordered one that was holding my leg up too high. I think they come in different sizes. As an afterthought I should have started out with a less thick one and moved up from there instead of trying to get the thickest one out there and sleep in in all night. I ended up only being able to stand to wear it at night for about 2 hours - too uncomfortable under cover, etc. - it was annoying and I took it off. I was still very sore the next day - not just the hamstring in my leg, but tendons around my ankle and back of my heel - it stretched them all.

Mabis 4" Foot Elevator.
I sleep on my right side and was getting a bed sore on my ankle bone. I received this elevator to see if it would help but it was more firm than I planned and I couldn't sleep with it because of the sixe. Anyway, it didn't work as I planned so I haven't been able to use it. for the purpose I intended. I think it is just too big around and too firm. I don't know. I have been using a sheepskin to see if that would work but so far my ankle is still red and soreThe foot elevator is a good idea, it just didn't work for me.

DO NOY PURCHASE!!!
DO NOT PURCHASE. This foam in this leg elevation pillow is too hard and the opening is too small even without using the hook & loop fastener. It cutoff the circulation and caused a considerable amount of pain after wearing it for only 45 minutes. With the “No Return Policy” you will be throwing your money away.

Great
Others don't seem to have enough lift. I was worried they'd hold on to my ankle to tightly but you can use a spacer if you like.I'm not sure if I have plantar fasciitis or not but sometimes when I walk a lot anything toughing my foot kills. This takes car of that.

too much pressure directly on the ankle
when you have it around your ankle to keep your foot elevated and with no contact after foot surgery...you already have major swelling...so wrapping this around your ankle and then letting your leg "relax " on it does NOT work....it increases pressure on your circulation and is not even close to comfortable....I really wanted it to work...but now even 3 months after surgery I still can't use it...but I guess I should add ...could possibly be because I am slender build and not a lot of meat on my bones in that area even prior to surgery?? maybe it would work better for more heavy set folks (??) I dunno just thinking out loud
