No, it has to be wired into the furnace!

Will this work with a 3 wire heat only forced air system?? My system only has red,white & green wires...Or can I just use the green wire as a common.

Hi Rcq78, this C wire adapter requires 4 wires. If you have only 3 wires we recommend contacting your HVAC contractor to help you run a new wire from the C on your heating system to C on the thermostat. - Maria

Will this product work with a 2 wire system?

Since your system has 2 wires only, we recommend checking on the furnace motherboard to see if there is a C terminal and run a new wire from that C to the thermostat on C.
