1TB Hard Drive for Dell XPS-15 XPS-15 (L501x) XPS-15 (L502x) XPS-15 (L521x) XPS-15z (L511z) XPS-17 (L701x) XPS-17 (L702x) XPS-17 3D

I bought this hard drive in April but I didn't have a chance to really start working with the computer upgrades until recently. The hard drive has been sitting in a cool dry room on a shelf in its original packaging. Now I want to install it and it's dead. Won't even spin up. It's too late to return it so I'm SOOL. Last time I buy from these vendors! Or a Toshiba HDD for that matter.

Needed to remove old drive, since the old drive was old and tired and filled...this worked out nicely. easy to do. not hard. try to find a Youtube that shows the steps. hardest part was separating the keyboard because you think you might break the plastic surrounding it, but the plastic is pretty sturdy,so it takes more guts than brains.

The drive I received is a Western Digital blue -- it's only one step under their high end black label... It didn't come with a caddy or screws, so save all your existing hardware, needless to say... Installed easily -- there is a YouTube video that shows how simple drive replacements are on the Dell XPS15 series. Front bezel was a little stiff, just had to pry it off gently with a screwdriver.OS install and data transfer was fast for a 5400RPM drive, although Western Digital's web site said all their 1TB blue label drives are 7200RPM so not really sure. Nevertheless it is quiet and works great thus far.

Installation was a breeze and took me ten minutes tops. I'm happy with what I got - especially at such a low price.

Excellent...shipped quick and was exactly as descibe...I bought a hard drive enclosure and was able to transfer everything to the new hard drive and swapped it out and got back up and running...

Perfect replacement for the one that stopped working. No problems at all so far since installed in early Feb 2016 - now May 2016
